what does mark as spam on facebook do?

There always some comments on facebook I just wish to no see, so I was curious if mark as spam would do that, or what would it do.

It would be subsequently marked as "spam".

I'm talking about will it report to the system to try to get the comment removed, or will it just hide the comment, etc, etc.
