What does Christmas mean to you.

Christmas is a time of goodwill to all shareholders. How do you good folk celebrate this day do you see it as a religious holiday and treat it as such. Do you just sit on your own in a dark room mumbling BAH HUMBUG to orphans outside the window. What do you look forward too what do you dread. What are your traditions you do on this day.

It means another month of desperately trying to find a place that sells mistletoe

My perfect Christmas would be gathering with what little family and friends I have left. Have a huge banquette, roast pork, veggies, pasta/potato salad, gravy, sausages, maybe a few more ribs. Watching the kids open their presents, catching up with everyone (not in a gossip way). Sigh, its been a long time since that has happened.

My Christmas' nowadays are just like any other day off. Wake up, shower, computer, walk the dog, computer, gym if its open, drive to a nice site with dog and stay there until night hits. Its really sucky. Meanwhile everyone else is having fun with people they care about.

Every year ends up with me sitting around reflecting on every mistake I've ever made during the course of my life.

Also Christmas Shopping is a stress with all the crowds of people.

That's why I do mine in October.

Apart from one sister, nobody tells me what they want until about 2 weeks before Christmas, if I'm lucky.

Its all just "hmmm, I'm not sure, I'll think about it" for weeks, and weeks, and weeks.

I couldn't handle that. My gf was doing that this year the whole "Oh I don't want anything" I just waited till she was shopping and paid for whatever she was buying.

My dad does this pretty much every year. We all end up trying our best to choose something for him, and our gifts get a "thanks very much" and then get dumped on a pile of gifts from previous years that have never been used or looked at lol.

This year I asked him what he wanted and he said "I need a pen" so I went out and bought him the most expensive pen I could find.

A break. A chance to detach from the world. Pretend everything is okay for a little while. An opportunity to enjoy and live for the moment.

Spending time with loved ones.

A cultural obligation, nothing more.

Christmas is a moment, when the atheists plays on christians and celts for one month.

Eating

Guilty masturbation

I enjoy it, but its not a religious thing for me, its just a day where me and my family can get together, spend time with each other, eat some good food, have a good time etc.

New tacky over sized clothes i cant fit in, have room for, or a desire to wear.

Edit: Oh and I get to see my cat play with wrappings, which is nice cause hes OAF and needs the exercise.

Paganism, Traffic, Anrgy Shoppers, Football, Food, Joy, Santa, Crime Rate Spike, Movies, Gifts, Goodwill...It means a lot of things. Even though I don't celebrate.

A day for presents.

Holiday.

Spending time with family and eating.

Good food, good beer and family.

Family and a lot of freaking junk food.

Regardless of any mood I would be in, the spirit of the holiday for me means both recognizing the birth of Christ as well as enjoying time shared with those you love.
