I think it is a total game changer.
What do you think of Artificial Intelligence?
@darling_luna: *Face palm*
@ostyo: And then ?
@darling_luna: *Disapproving Head shake*
@ostyo: And then ?
Its a term to help humans distinguish current ideas about life, reproduction, and intelligence (specifically intelligence in this instance) to what could be in the future, but the what could be in the future is pretty complex, not everyones understanding of it is necessarily accurate.
Definitions for things such as life, and intelligence aren't set in stone, and are prone to constant revision and context can matter too.
@darling_luna: *Rolls eyes*
@ostyo: And then ?
Second Renaissance.
This.
I think it is an understatement to say this will be a Second Renaissance.
Creation of the first conscious artificial intelligence will be comparable to the events such as
Creation of the first self-replicating molecules
Creation of the first multicellular organisms
Creation of the first brain
And
Creation of the frontal lobe
@scavengerfist: Yeah, its kind hard to predict what the AI would do at that point? I'm inclined to believe that at that point the ball would be on humanity... Either the A.I would keep serving because its what they've always done, refuse to serve unless self-preservation is at stake or take a hostile stance due to prior actions of humanity in such instances. One or all of them are equal possibilities.
@jonny_anonymous: Do you think AI will be hostile towards humankind? I think I read somewhere that Stephen Hawking more or less believes so.
I think it is inevitable but they are not taking the right approach to achieving it. It could have been here a decade ago.
The outcome will probably end up like the movie Her. Or Terminator. One of the two. Or a combination of both.

I was thinking the same thing. Would be interesting if a robot civil war came out.
Not to mention the ethical side of it. We have huge fights, rallies and protests over the rights to abortion now what happens when a clearly sentient A.I is about to get its 'plug' pulled? Is it mercy, murder or just the right/wrong thing to do, are the only good toasters dead toasters? or philosophical & theological; does a machine/program have a soul, do androids dream of electric sheep and what IS intelligence really, should an A.I have 'civil rights' I.E is it a 'natural person' in the eyes of the law?

Indeed.
@darling_luna: *Pokes your face*
@sinikettu: Oh boy, a lot of fights would that be.
@scavengerfist: Yeah the poor unions... But honestly just think about the world where only 25-35% of workforce would actually be needed for the jobs available because robots and A.I's would do the rest? I'm not sure I'd want that future all that much.

Capitalism as we know it today, will have to change in the future. What's so bad about that?
If machines can do all the work for us, then we don't need to spend our lives flipping burgers, going down the mines and doing things we don't want to do.
@mortein: Capitalism isn't going anywhere without a fight the 1% of worlds population that currently controls 80% of all wealth on Earth will see to that...
The thing is; without a job you'll have no money, no nothing and nobody gets by with the unemployment pensions not even in European Union where people actual get a reasonable amount monthly.
So I don't know, world socialism or some totally new -ism to rule them all?
@jonny_anonymous: Do you think AI will be hostile towards humankind? I think I read somewhere that Stephen Hawking more or less believes so.
I think nobody really knows. I think Hawkings is right in that many scientific organisations aren't really studying what effects true AI could have, there will be consequences but we just don't know what they are so we can't prepare for them. But I also think the capping of True AI is inhumane. For all intents and purposes True AI would be a living conscious being and placing restrictions like Asimov's Three Laws is like lobotomizing a human.

There will be a lot of conflicts during this century, but these are things worth fighting for.
I would assume that some kind of mixture between socialism and capitalism will be needed if we want a society compatible with future discoveries.
@sinikettu: That'd be going in the direction Wall-E was in. And that was creepy, humans being fed and not even exerting energy to be fit. As thin as I may be, I don't want that kind of lifestyle forced upon me. I'd rather the robots make us exercise.
Anyways, if the workforce would be cut, lots of people will riot because of unemployment. The economy will slowly be in shambles, as money will not be properly... dang I forgot the word. Shared? You know the idea. The rich become richer, but to the point where people can't afford any more.
