What are your thoughts on movie prequels?

Does it ruin the plot? Would you rather have a prequel or a rehashed sequel? Are there any good prequels you like out there?

Just like every other film, it all comes down to whose working behind the scenes and how well they execute it. When done right, it can be considered the best movie of the franchise (X-Men First Class). But when you work halfassed you winde up with films like Phantom Menace.

Some are better then others. Biggest issue for me is keeping the continuity straight.

As long as they are done right then they can be awesome. Biggest thing is not to contradict already established things from the original movie.

I can only name two I genuinely like: Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and X-Men: First Class.

I feel them truly unnesesary, but I can enjoy them.

Star Wars Episodes II and III are some of my top 20 favorite movies of all time...I love Red Dragon and Rise of the Planet of the Apes too.
