As an early teenager in the 90's, i have to say it was better socially and economically. Going outside was a normal thing to do as a kid, and there was no such thing as having to like someone's status update. You could see your friends without having to send some kind of EVite first. Music still had an affect on the masses, albeit not much, but way more than it does now. Movies weren't necessarily better, due to the emergence of CGI, but there were still new ideas comming out, at least. Arcades were awesome and still in existence. TV made more of an attempt to incorporate family events for viewers. MTV still played music...mainly. There was only like 2 or 3 reality shows at the time. Jersey was still a respected area for Italian Americans. Concerts were more common. You could meet your loved one at the gate terminal of an airport. O.J. Simpson gave us the most excitingly-comical, and slowest, 1 hour and 40 minute car chase ever. Chris Farely still lived. Little Ceasars and Dominos was still good pizza. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (movie) 1 and 2. Bill Nye the Science Guy. Star Trek: The Next Generation (bulk of the series anyway).Video games were a lot funner. Remember playing your Genesis, SNES, N64, and Saturn? Remember the quality games? I am not saying that games arent awsome today, but there seemed to be more heart and nostalgia back then (probably because that was my youth, lol). In the 90's, you listened to audio cassettes and/or CD's. Today people listen to iPod's and MP3 players and forget the true meaning of dropping by the nearby record store and buying that new tape, CD or vinyl. Nickelodeon! In the 90's, you had Rugrats, Double Dare, GUTS, Pete & Pete, Legends of the Hidden Temple, Nick Arcade, Rocko's Modern Life, Doug, etc. I nearly cry when I turn the TV onto Nick today.
But, this is just my opinion.
