I don't think he was motivated that much by any of those labels. I would say politically definitely left of what was center in the 70's. He was mostly active in trying to end the Vietnam War and just get people to talk about a lot of politically taboo subjects as well as have people address the huge disparity between the super rich who profited off of things like war compared to the average person.

I know a lot of people who didn't like him labeled him a communist. I don't know what he was. I do know that he was against the Vietnam war and he spoke against it regularly. The government didn't like that. He was just a chill dude promoting peace and love. What was so bad about that?

Labels are restricting. But if you really want to put one to his political ideologies, Pacifist and Feminist are closest to what he was.
