Knives have revolutionize many cultures all around world. The function of the blade and handle have been modify multiple times for completely different uses, they help make our food, combat enemies, or used for construction. Here are the top five knives:

Butterfly Knife

Originating from Asian countries, thousands of Americans have imported these knives. But it holds significance among people in the Philippines due to a urban legend that surrounds the knife. The butterfly knife can be used for art and amusement as many have developed a talent for opening the butterfly knife in very, yet dangerous, unique ways, Though primarily used a weapon, butterfly knives have been outlawed and many Western parts of the globe.

Throwing Knife

No need for wings in order to make these babies fly.

These knives are made with a single piece of steel and no handle, they have to be at a specific weigh so they can be thrown effectively. A Throwing knife can have one of two criteria, balance rate or unbalance rate for when the knife is thrown. If balanced, the center of the gravity can be with the center of the knife, they follow a near circular trajectory in flight. Unbalance Knives don't have the center of the gravity at one with the blade, making the trajectory in flight less predictable. The most common throwing knife is the kunai, that's used by Japanese ninjas.

Butter Knife

Without a doubt, everyone has used this to make a delicious sandwitch, it is used to help smear peanut-butter, jam, butter, or other types of ingredients used for sandwitches. The dull blade helps the smearing process all the more better. What's surprising is that different versions of the butter knife was made for precise and specific use to smear butter onto a bread, primarily used by upper-class people.

Machete

Used in tropical and subtropical counties. The large blade is used to cut down vegetational areas. It is also classified as a sword, during the Rwandan Genocide in 1994 in East Africa, many killings were done with the use of the machete. The machete was also made famous as in was made as the iconic weapon for the Friday the 13 movies.

Hunting Knife

Hunting knives are traditionally designed for cutting rather than stabbing, and usually have a single sharpened edge. The blade is slightly curved on most models, and some hunting knives may have a blade that has both a curved portion for skinning and a straight portion for cutting slices of meat Some blades incorporate a guthook. Most hunting knives designed as "Skinners" have a rounded point as to not damage the skin as it is being removed.
