Russia hell China and Russia aren't as powerful as the US. And South Korea and Turkey above France????? Also Iran above Israel???
1.US by far (largest economy, 3rd largest population, and the largest military)
2.China (second largest economy, largest population gaining in strength)
3.Russia (large amount of decent equipment but a smaller population and economy)
4.France (A large armed forces, large economy, tons of nukes)
5.GB (Pretty much the same as France really they are both interchangeable)
6. India (decent equipment, nukes, and a huge population)
7. Japan (Extremely developed country with a huge economy and large population)
8. South Korea (Large economy and great equipment)
9. Turkey (Large population and a member of NATO)
10. Israel (great economy, great equipment, and the most developed country in the middle east the only thing holding them back is their small population.)

also let's not forget that israel is almost powerless without the US.

Why do you say that? Israel only depends on the US for military hardware which they already have enough of to destroy all of their neighbors. Israel is a developed nation and can survive on their own.
Now about Global Fire Power, It is ridiculous. I mean Italy above Brazil or Turkey

True, israel's nukes give them advantage as well.
but they're too dependant on us support.
GFP had a more accurate list last year

2. and 3.: Eh, not sure why you are putting China head of Russia. China continues to purchase weapons and military technology from Russia, and Russia has the natural resources to maintain a powerful military. It also has the largest military in Europe. The fact that Russia was able to compete with the United States for at least forty years shows how strong Russian industrial power is. China needs natural resources because it doesn't have enough natural resources for itself. That is why they are opening up businesses all around the world to start business with the locals. So, I think that shows that Russia has the upper-hand in terms of military power. Correct me if I am wrong, though.
6. and 7.: Well, Japan's military technology is superior, and it has a superior navy. So, I am not sure if India is more powerful. I could be wrong, though. Japan's air force isn't that bad, either.
8. and 9.: Well, Turkey has a larger population. So, I wonder if its military would be deemed "more powerful". Also, is South Korea's economy larger than Turkey's?
Russia and China are close but China is increasing in power at a rapid rate (Russia is also increasing in influence and power but not at the same rate.)
I would agree that Russia hanging with the US for that long is impressive but that was the past.
Russia does have a decent industrial power but it is nowhere near as large as Russia. With the amount of money China has I don't see fuel being a problem to buy especially since the main Russian navy is in the west and the Russian Pacific fleet can not compete with the Chinese navy.
You are right about Japan having better equipment and a better navy but I don't see either country being able to harm the other. I only put India on there because they are actually posed to become a world superpower.
The South Korean economy is a lot larger then the Turkish almost 1.5x larger and they an asian tiger economy.

Well, Russia does have a larger air and tank force, and Putin authorized the spending of hundreds of billions of dollars on modernizing and re-energizing the Russian military. I think you are referring to China's economy, which is much larger and stronger than the Russian economy. Russia still has the tenth largest economy in the world while China has the second largest. I wonder if China's economy will one day surpass America's. I actually don't know much about the Russian navy, and I don't know how large it is. It appears to have a strong presence in the Baltic Sea, but there could be other areas as well. I just don't know how large or powerful it is.
Indeed. It's interesting because it seems as if India really wants to compete with China. Let's see how that goes.
Russia simply does not have the necessary population to beat a nation which is larger and has comparable equipment. The Russian pacific fleet is a joke and how would the Baltic Fleet affect the outcome of a war half way across the world?
I'm pretty sure the French navy is currently larger than the British.
Regardless, The French, British and American fleets are still the only blue water navies in the world with global reach and power projection. That earns them place at the top regardless of the their actual sizes.
Cuba
Iran
North Korea
Angola
China
Pakistan
Uzbekistan
Iraq
Syria
& Switzerland
& a special mention to Disneyland.
@Edamame: The MOD say it's so the military is more efficient run but really it's because they wan't to save money and they realise we are never going to war without other country's backing us up and so we don't need that large of a standing army.
1. USA 2. China 3. Russia 4. India 5. Japan 6. United Kingdom 7. Saudi Arabia 8. Brazil 9. Canada 10. Philippines hehehe : )

Not sure why you think that China and Russia have comparable equipment. They ... simply don't. Russia keeps its best weapons for itself and sells the older weapons to other countries around the world. That includes China. Russia comes second place in worldwide weapons sales, right behind America. So, that shows how many weapons they can produce and ... sell. They already engaged each other in the Sino-Soviet split in the 60s for about seven months, and the Russian military killed a lot of Chinese soldiers. More Chinese soldiers perished than Russian soldiers. Also, Russia still has the largest tank force in the entire world and the second largest air force in the world. So, that should say something.
"Just my two cents." :)

Well, they had and still do have significant trade with Cuba, Venezuela and other countries that far away. I am pretty sure that there are some Russian naval bases in Vladivostok or other areas in Siberia.
Most of the tanks in the Russian Army are worthless old soviet t-80s and t-72s. They only have 500 generation t-90s that is the same amount of 3rd generation tanks that the Chinese have as well. Russian equipment sells because it is cheap. I will concede that the Russians have a better air force (for now). Also that Sino-Soviet clash (which was Russia at her height of power) was nothing more then a few skirmishes. Actually I don't believe that the Russians have any naval bases on other soil except for in Ukraine and Syria (which wouldn't help a war so far away)

Why is anyone putting Japan on their list? They don't even have their own military.
They have a sizable military. It's just that their military is technically classified as an extension of the police force to get around the limitations placed on them at the end of WWII.
