which one of these awesome guys is more impressive in their iconic villain roles?
Tom Hiddleston vs Heath Ledger
Both were great. Ledger put a great, new spin on one of the greatest villains of all time, and made it work incredibly. Hiddleston brought forth a lesser known villain, and made him known. He definitely brought the persona of Loki to life. Equal in my eyes.
Loki lost a ton of respect from me the minute he got tossed around like a rag doll. Ledger was a bad ass till the end even when he got caught.
Heath Ledger. Tom Hiddleston is an amazing Loki though, I am not sure Thor and Avengers would have done so well without him as Loki. But come on, Ledger locked himself in a hotel room to practice being Joker, and his performance won an Oscar.
Hmm it's close but I give to Ledger.
We have seen Tom as Loki in three films now and while he is a brilliant Loki, no is talking about Academy Awards or ground breaking performances. Tom took a great villain and made him relevant and multifaceted and even sympathetic.
Ledger on the other hand.... well we all saw the movie. It's a performance that no one will soon forget. Ledger wins this one.
Heath revolutionized the Joker, where as Hiddleston took the best parts of Loki's character from the comics and brought them to life on the big screen. I feel both have done justice to their respected roles, but if I had to choose between the two, I'd go with Heath's Joker.
Heath won an academy award for a reason, and it wasn't because he died, contrary to ignorant hater opinions.
Hiddleston overall is a better actor imo, but Heath gave a once in a lifetime (ding) performance.
Heath Ledger!! But they both put on awesome performances, but Heath's Joker is one of the best performances in movie history and he executed the joker PERFECTLY. I have to go with him.
Tommy Boy. He's actually...ya know...alive.
Awww... Cheap shot.
@monsterstomp: Cheap but true.
@ostyo: So your reason for choosing Tom is because Heath is dead?
@monsterstomp: No, but it was funny.
Heath won an academy award for a reason, and it wasn't because he died, contrary to ignorant hater opinions.
That so would not have happened if he didn't die.
@ostyo: Man you look wack laughing by yourself.
@monsterstomp: I do what I want.
Every morning my brother starts the day with a random joke that doesn't make sense. About an hour ago he says "Tom Hiddleston...the poor mans Tommy Wiseau."
Anyway I cant quite decide.I like both.
I disliked Heath's Joker, overrated.
Tom ftw.
You disliking it has absolutely nothing to do with the performance, which was terrific. They are two completely different topics.

Its what everyone likes to tell themselves. Go look at the competition that year. It wasn't that strong. RDJ was nominated for his role in Tropic Thunder FFS. The only real competition he had was from Shannon in Revolutionary Road and PSH in Doubt, however both of those movies received lukewarm reception and and did not have good mometum. Who exactly do you think would have won had he not died? Because your choices are not good.
Ledger's career is largely overrated and he was an inconsistent actor. TDK however happened to be the time he was on more than he had ever been. It happens all the time. Actors can give a larger than life performance (pun intended) and I seriously question the opinion of anyone who thinks that performance was anything less than magnificent. It was deserved and it would have happened alive or dead.
@fallschirmjager: No. I thought the performance was just meh. Nothing special. Heath Ledger's whole acting ability is just meh. I plain out thought his performance as Joker wasn't great. I know my opinion doesn't make it fact, just as everyone who thinks he was greats opinion ain't fact.

Then you don't know much about acting.
And 3600~ (edit: correction 6000, my bad) of the best film critics in the world thought it was a fact. People too easily dismiss the academy because its the cool thing to do, but they know what they're talking about more often than not.

Trust me. I know plenty about acting. I don't care if the greatest film critic in the world thinks his performance was great, it's still an opinion. I'm not saying it was horrible, I just think he's meh.. Just my opinion, it matters to no one but myself.
