Have you heard of this? I find it to be very interesting!
Thoughts on the Jefferson Bible?
@cgoodness: You know it!
@616vulture: He took out what made Jesus a miracle worker, son of god, etc... and kept the teachings and philosophy of Jesus.
@rouflex: And here you were saying how smart french people are and you can't even read a few paragraphs???

It's just that every word in english seen by my eyes is a pain in the bread. Get what i mean? Russia and englishmans knows Francais is the language of education, proof is Napoléon has a impact on it.
To think, he was the original "cutandpaste" guy.
Very cool article and interesting how he reconstructed the New Testament into the philosophy of Jesus. I had no idea of its existence.
It's a very interesting idea. All the big named Founders, with the exception of Thomas Paine in his later years, believed in the value of religion as a way to help men be good for freedom would fail if people abused the system, but Jefferson wasn't a Christian. He believed in the general philosophy of Christ and had some belief in the afterlife, but he didn't really buy into all that miraculous nonsense. I've heard it said, though I could not find a quick link on Google substantiating it, that Jefferson's point in his version of the Bible was to point out that the philosophy of Christ was the model of American religion. We didn't necessarily need the supernatural elements, but we did need to love our neighbor as ourselves and embrace those aspects of Christianity..
