The Legatum Prosperity Index recently update their rankings of where they rank countries in multiple categories in the image below
And in the category Americans hold most dearest in Personal Freedom the United States dropped from #16 in 2013 to now #21 behind countries like New Zealand, Canada, Germany, the UK, and now even below France. The scores are based on polling data collect from citizens of each country. The United States has had a 17% in Personal Freedom drop since 2009 and many blame President Obama due to his stance on Due Process with Drone Strikes, defying Freedom of the Press, signing the National Defense Authorization Act of 2012 which allows him to detain American citizens indefinitely without trial, expanding the Patriot Act/NSA spying, and so on.
However on the positive side the U.S jumped from #24 in Economy to #17, #13 in Entrepreneurship & Opportunity to #11, #2 in health to #1, #9 in Social Capital to #7 and jumped to #10 overall from #11.
.......but also dropped from #11 in Governance to #12, #5 in Education to #11, and stayed at #31 in Safety and Security.
