So this thread will be about what people think of this film legend and what there favorite Kubrick movie is, as well as talking about the films and have some tributes to the man and the films he directed as well.

Stanley Kubriks not dead, the Illuminati has him in a cage somewhere where they are using his brain synapses to power their engines of dominance.

@jwwprod: 2001: A Space Odyssey. A Clockwork Orange, Spartacus, The Shining, and Full Metal Jacket are next.

Room 237 was pretty interesting a lot of ideas that didn't occur to me while watching The Shining. Of course you can chalk it all up to overanalyzing but still interesting for someone who's a Kubrick fan.

Oh, and he filmed the moon landing...

Yea tell me about it!

Even though I think Stephen King is a brilliant writer, I do have to disagree with him about his opinion of Kubrick's adaptation of the Shining.

And it's quite funny that he hated the Kubrick's adaptation of the Shining which was a brilliant movie, so he decided to make his own movie adaptation of the Shining which turned out to be not so brilliant LOL!

A Clockwork Orange and Lolita (I hate how they sliced off a big chunk of book to accommodate the 90's version). Uncomfortable films are the shiznit and Kubrick excelled at that.

@jwwprod: From what I've read King's big problem with the film was the portrayal of Wendy.

"It's cold, I’m not a cold guy. I think one of the things people relate to in my books is this warmth, there’s a reaching out and saying to the reader, ‘I want you to be a part of this.’ With Kubrick’s The Shining I felt that it was very cold, very ‘We’re looking at these people, but they’re like ants in an anthill, aren’t they doing interesting things, these little insects." That's the other big reason King mentioned in an interview with BBC.

Also, Overlookhotel.com has a couple pictures of Kubrick's copy of the shining with the margins covered with notes.
