...
I do not miss metal hair. :P
And there's a metal show? O_O
Bro, high five for Iced Earth. Respect. Anyway, I'm a Thrash Metal kind of guy myself. I can't pick favorites. I usually hang around As I Lay Dying, Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, Megadeth, Iron Maiden... The Good stuff.
The classics for me usually, Metallica, Pantera, Slayer, Maiden, Judas Priest, Living Colour, Sabbath, Fear Factory....... I suppose you could consider later stuff like early Korn and Rage against the Machine, System of a Down Metal
I am not really into it all that much, some stuff gets me going though
@Icarusflies: Hey, you mind if I link this into the Rock N' Roll thread, since metal is a sub-genre of Rock?

I wouldn't consider metal a sub-genre of rock, but you can certainly link it!

Any band using drums, a base, and a guitar to pull off any kind of rifts, solos, shreds and other things is Rock in my eyes. Most music devices such as Zune, Itunes, and FrostWire, etc consider it a sub-genre of rock, but hey everyone's got their opinions, and I appreciate it, thanks.
Testament, early Metallica, Pantera, Anthrax, Dio and others. I've fallen behind. Testament's Practice What You Preach was the first album I ever owned. Fight's A Small Deadly Space was the last metal album I owned and for good reason: it paled in comparison to War of Words.
I recommend Blackfire's One Nation Under. I picked it up from a cousin when my family actually frequented Cupa Days. Exile pretty much sums up the robbed culture, and it may come off as xenophobic and wanting but it's accurate.
@Icarusflies: YES! Sweden brings the best Metal these days, and cover most every sub-genre Amon Amarth for the super heavy, Opeth for the prog heads, Sabaton is my favorite Power band ever and now they bring us Ghost old school melodic metal with extra helpings of Satan. ( and they put on a helluva show too, saw em about a month ago). All great stuff!!
Everyone who loves Thrash has gotta check out the new Kreator album, a lot of Thrash old-hard's don't quite stay true to the 80's flavor anymore but Kreator brings enough Brutal riffs to pick up their slack! And Death Angel, they still slay too.

@Icarusflies said:Does Lacuna Coil apply?Anyone listen to any foreign metal? German and Scandinavian metal is FANTASTIC.
Never heard of them. :P
I'm into the older stuff. My all time favorite band is the original Black Sabbath lineup.I also like Iron Maiden,Judas Priest and Ozzy's solo stuff.
Metal awakens my soul, which is filled with hate and rage. So, as I get older, I listen less.
I will forever love it though.
