1. c = -7/10 Combine the c terms, add 4c to both sides, add 2 to both sides, you're left with 10c = -7, then divide both sides by 10 to get c = -7/10
2. k = -7/4 Just combine the like terms and subtract 4 from both sides. Then divide both sides by 4 to get k by itself.
3. m = 0 Combine the like terms, add m to both sides and you'll get 14m = 8-8=0, so m=0
4. r = -1/11 Combine the 7r and 8r, add 7r to both sides, add 8 to both sides, you're left with 22r = -2. Just divide both sides by 22 and you get r = -1/11
5. j = -1 Combine the j terms, add j to both sides, subtract 4 from both sides, you're left with 6j = -6, then divide both sides by 6 and you get j = -1
6. h = -5/2, 9h - 3h = 6h, subtract 4h from both sides, and subtract 4 from both sides, you're left with 2h = -5, divide both sides by 2 and you get h = -5/2
7. f = 3, combine the f terms, add 7f to both sides, add 8 to both sides, you get 5f = 15, divide both sides by 5 and you get f = 3
8. s = 2/5. Distribute the 3 to both 2s and -3, and the -1 to both 7 and -s, so you get 6s - 9 = -7 + s, then add 9 to both sides and subtract s from both sides and you're left with 5s = 2. Then just divide both sides by 5, and you're left with s = 2/5.

That was really easy. Then again, I did this stuff years ago, and math is naturally my good subject.

I should be able to help anyone with math. It's my best subject. Don't ask me anything about biology or chemistry though. I had terrible teachers in High School so I never learned anything in them.

1.) For a number, use n. 2 times that number can be represented by 2n. 3 less than that would mean subtracting 3. And 2 more than the number means adding 2. So it's saying that 2n - 3 = 3n + 2. Subtract 2 from both sides, and subtract 2n from both sides, leaving you with -5 = n. So the number is -5.
2.) Here, you'd first distrubute the 3 to 2f and 9, and the -1 to 7 and -b. So you'd get 6f + 27 = -7 + b. The most you can really do next is add 7 to both sides and get 6f + 34 = b, because you can't combine terms with different coefficients.
3. Distribute 4 to 3c and 1, and -1 to 5 and -c. You'd get 12c + 4 = -5 + c. Then you subtract 4 from both sides, and subtract c from both sides, leaving it as 11c = -9. Then divide by 11 and you get c = -9/11.
4. Distribute 5 to 2d and 5, and -1 to 9 and -d and you get 10d + 25 = -9 + d. Then subtract 25 from both sides and subtract d from both sides and you get 9d = -34. Then divide both sides by 9 and you get d = -34/9.
5. Distribute the 3 to 5b and -7, and the -1 to 7 and -b and you get 15b - 21 = -7 + b. Then subtract b from both sides, and add 21 to both sides, leaving you with 14b = 14. So b = 1.
6. Distribute the 4 to 3g and -5, and the -1 to 5 and -g so you get 12g - 20 = -5 + g. Then add 20 to both sides and subtract g from both sides and you get 11g = 15. Then divide both sides by 11 and you get g = 15/11.
7. Distribute the 3 to 3s and 7 and the -1 to 8 and -s so you get 9s + 21 = -8 + s. Then subtract s from both sides and subtract 21 from both sides so you get 8s = -29. Then divide both sides by 8 so you get s = -29/8.
8. Distribute 3 to 3q -1, and the -1 to 9 - q so you get 9q - 3 = -9 + q. Then add 3 to both sides and subtract q from both sides. You're left with 8q = -6. Divide both sides by 8 and you get q = -6/8 which can be simplified into q = -3/4.

I'm back again with more math!! We started factoring trinomials and crap so here it goes so please help if you can.

x to the second + 5x + 6 = 0 (I have to add certain numbers into the two x's in order to still gain zero)

y to the second + 3y = 36 - 2y

First one is (x + 2)(x + 3). The two numbers to get zero are -2, and -3. To find it, just find two numbers who add to become 5, and multiply to become 6.
Second one, you first add 2y to the both sides and then subtract 36 from both sides so you get y^2 + 5y - 36 = 0. You try to find two numbers which add to 5, and multiply to equal -36. Two numbers which fit are 9 and -4. So it should factor to (y - 4)(y + 9), and it equals 0 when y = -9 or 4.

Great thread kids still need help with homework.

I love math, I use to compete in tournaments.

History to a great extant, military history is my favorite subject.
