What about that show Ugly Betty? I remember hearing a lot of hype about it watched it...was ehh lol but yeah, Jersey Shore...good god, few months ago that's all you heard..

Yeah The Sopranos was a victim to smut over good writing. It had a strong start, and then turned into soft core porn with mobters.
Excluding "reality" TV which would be top of the list:
- Lost - Heroes - House - 24 - Grey's Anatomy - CSI (and all of its spin-offs) - The Simpsons - Family Guy (anything by Seth MacFarlane) - Prison Break
amongst probably tons of others I don't know about.
Seinfield, good show, just not great IMO. Sopranos, The Wire was soooooo much better than this. Lost, don't get me started on that. Heroes, 4400 > Heroes.
You did not say the "Sopranos", that show broke boundaries with its top knotch actors and being top knotch in every other field, it changed drama in Tv shows forever, many series were successful because of that show, it was in its own leaque and the first of its kind, infact there hasn't been many series to come close to it, Spartacus: Blood & Sand maybe one of them, but atlas this is all opinion.
Anyways, probably Smallville or Doctor who or American idol, watching either of them will probably force me into a deep sleep, ive also noticed some people naming shows that weren't even that hyped to began with, i mean Supernatural has its own thread in this forum but to be honest ive never heard anyone else hype Supernatural.

@MKF30: Family Guy is garbage, its funny the first time round but becomes stale and boring very quickly. It's a knock off version of the simpsons, the only difference being Simpsons is clever in it's humour and both adults and chidren can relate to it. Just because some fans protested and DVD sales went up does not stop it from being overrated and it became old along time ago. Now they have the cleaveland show WTF Give me simpsons and futurama any day of the week.

Family Guy isn't garbage...it's ridiculously popular and if anything The Simpsons is far overrated and needs to die already...nobody watches it anymore nearly as much as shows like FG and South Park, and that logic makes no sense...FG isn't a knock off the Simpsons why? Because it's another "Family" lol that's a flawed argument...

Being popular does not stop people from not liking a show, which I believe is the reason for this thread, for people to express what shows they find overrated and in some cases awful. I didn't jump down your throat when you said Lost was overrated now did I. Maybe you should have warned us in the OP that mentioning family guy was a big NO. I even stated that I found the show funny to begin with, but it got old quickly. Even the earlier seasons are stale. I like to connect with characters in a show, Family Guy does not connect with me.
Is that why Futurama has been picked back up again?
Maybe i should go on a little rant because you find a show that I like to be crap.
