congratufuckalations, the world didn't end.
Who started this nonsense that the Mayans, who couldn't predict their own demise at the hands of the Europeans, overpopulation, soil exhaustion, and disease, could have accurately predicted the end of the world 500 years in the present?
I'm tired of hearing this.
Can you prove that they "couldn't predict their own demise"? Then don't assert it.
Sure I can't, all I know is they never recorded anything about their civilization's destruction, so it's safe to assume they didn't see it coming. Can you prove that they could predict their own demise?
Really, that's your reasoning? Congrats, most people simply say "well they died, so they clearly couldn't predict their demise". I'm glad you have a more semi-valid reason.
However, you say that, "all I know is they never recorded anything about their civilization's destructions". You would only "know" this if you took the time to do some research on what they have predicted....Which would have led to you seeing that they haven't predicted anything because they don't predict non-astronomy-related things OR that the 2012 Doomsday myth stems from the ending of their calender, not any sort grand prophecy/prediction....Which would have led you to simply say in your initial post
congratufuckalations, the world didn't end.
Who started this nonsense that The Mayans, who didn't predict anything, have predicted the end of the world, in the first place?
Depending on when you started your "research", you might have even found the news about how the Mayan Calender actually goes past December 2012.
Regardless, the end result of your research would be you not making a post implying that the Mayans ever tried to or "couldnt" predict something. Or making a post that associates "predictions" with the Mayans, unless to laugh at the idea. Therefore, I'm gonna assume that either
1. You did not research well or understand what you researched..
OR
2. You did not research at all... You don't "know" anything about what they "recorded".
AND
Actually claimed they couldn't predict their death simply because they ended up dying, which is the unsound reasoning I'm tired of hearing.
My guess is that its option 2.
P.S. Not having recorded their demise does not mean that they didn't, and none of them couldn't, predict it. This reasoning is only valid if we already assume that the Mayans made a habit of predicting things and recording those predictions, in the first place. Which brings me back to why it is more likely that your reply is based on option 2^ above.
P.S.S. I can't prove that they could predict their own demise. Which is why I never asserted it.
