Godfather is far better movie in cinematic techniques.

Shawshank Redemption is also great but not in my top 5 all time list.

Both undoubtedly great films, but I think Shawshank is one of those movies that you could watch with anyone at any time as many times as possible, and still get swept away by its story.

I don’t really get why The Shawshank Redemption is considered the best movie ever made.

Here are some movies that I wouldn’t consider to be the absolute best of the best but better than The Shawshank Redemption:

La La Land, Good Will Hunting, Spiderman 2, Ratatouille, The Lighthouse, The King of Comedy, Knives Out.

Edit: I think it beats The Godfather though. But maybe I’d appreciate it more on rewatch because watching The Godfather part 2 (which I thought was a good movie)did make me rethink some of the things part 1 did.
