Finally! HBO has caught up with what was leaked. Now I have to wait for only one more week before I finally get new GoT content.

Speaking of that, I am NOT looking forward for next episode if glimpses from the preview about Sansa and Ramsay having sex. I am gonna need an barf bucket for that one.

They killed mance ryder too early in the show. The books were different.

Hmmmm... Okay I suppose you are right. After rewatching the promo, I recognized the chick turns out that is Snow's girlfriend. My mistake, I could have easily mistaken them.

I don't like that much either... I was okay with Ellaria trying to get revenge for Oberyn, but I don't like her having to target Myrcella over it. I thought she was going to fullfill Arianne's role of making her a puppet queen but she is throughtly butchered here.

I dislike they killed Barristan, more because they didn't allow him to do much in the show instead of standing around and giving counsel that Dany rarely heeded. He does more impressive sh*t later on in the books and they just killed him off like that :/

On the other hand, I am glad I am watching DD cause that show is pissing on GoT's face right now.

@dragonborn_ct: Yeah, it really feels out of character for Ellaria Sand to go for the whole revenge route by targeting Myrcella like that. I mean, Oberyan would be rolling his grave if he knew she was targeting a child. I'm alright with who they cast as Doran, I just wanna see more of him and Areo interacting.

My problem with them killing Barristan is that he's the last remaining link to Robert's Rebellion and the only person who can honestly tell Dany the truth about her family's history. My guess is they'll just have Jorah come in and redeem himself before the end of this season. Which means he'll probably take over Barristan's arc from the fifth book and onwards.

DD was amazing.

@_grifter_: Hmmm, I think Barristan told her all she needs to know like her father being really truly a Mad King and he wasn't really somebody to be looked up to. I don't know else what he could tell her, but yeah I agree with ya. They killed off Barristan too soon.

So, I know that a lot of fantasy novels follow this same formula, but for any of you who have seen Dune, here is what I noticed.

House Atreides (Stark), moves their royal members to the planet Arakis (King's Landing) to mine the Spice (King's Hand) for the Emperor of the Known Universe (King Robert).

A feuding family who previously had the honour of mining the spice (King's Hand), House Harkonnen (The Lannisters), is conspiring against the Atriedes (Starks) to become rulers of the known Universe (Seven Kingdoms) through control of Arakis (King's Landing).

The Atriedes (Starks) eventually fall to treachery at the hands of the Harkonnen (Lannisters) who now rule Arakis(King's Landing). This is due to a traitor, Dr.Yuri (Lord Baleish) who serves the Empire (Seven Kingoms) but has alterior personal motives, eventually leading to the death of the patriarch of house Atriedes (Stark) Lord Leto(Eddard).

Lord Leto's (Eddard's) bastard son Paul (Jon) escapes his House's defeat early to live with the Fremen (Night's Watch). The Fremen are the poor of Arakis who hunt the fabled sand (snow) worms (giants/wildings). They live ingiant mountain rocks (The Wall) which protect them from the harsh desert (winter) climate.

Aria Atriedes (Arya Stark) also survives the fall of her house, and pursues revenge to an almost fanatical extreme. She becomes an assassin and vowes to kill everyone that wronged her and her family. She is also around 10 years old.

Eventually, Paul (Jon) through magical powers and prophecy, overcomes the worms (giants/wildings) and leads them over the protective wall, in events that follow the Empire (Seven Kingdoms) is destroyed by Paul's (Jon's) army, and the spice flows (I've got nothing here).

Thats just after watching the last episode. Without the political intrigue its quite similar, at least to the Stark/Lannister storyline (Starks have blue banners, Lannisters have red, same for Atriedes/Harkonnen). Perhaps they both got their ideas from the War of the Roses?

After writing this, I looked online to see if anyone had the same thoughts as me...

Jorah getting greyscale was predictable, and I hoped they would have left it out since Connington is MIA

There was no real sufficient lead up to Daenerys roping Hizdarh into marriage

The stuff at Winterfell and the Wall were pretty cool, yet uneventful

I am more upset about Arianne and Young Griff not showing up. Stoneheart is a fairly (no pun intended) minor character.

@lateralus: Yeah but she's a badass. Those other two are all talk. Personally I won't care about Young Griff until he starts riding dragons. TBH, I'd rather see Euron Greyjoy show up.

I don't read the books but I really dislike that the show is starting to shoo away from it. I'd prefer to watch the authors original vision and I don't trust anyone TV company to do it justice.

Nope! Nope! Nope! Never mind what I said before, this is my least favorite episode of GoT ever!! Ignoring the fact that the episode was slow, uneventful, and full of idiocy itself, but it ends with Sansa getting raped??!!! Yeah, WTF is that?! I would rather her stay in the Vale doing nothing all season!

I don't like the fact that Sansa got rape and her brother had to watch. Greyworm and Missandei hooking up is pointless.

It was a rough episode, definitely.. I'm searching for something happy to watch before I go to bed >.>...

A little much for me..

Man This episode was pretty darn good, some solid freighting stuff about the cost of Arya's quest for vegance. Tyrion talked his way out of a problem. The Faith really suck and Cersi knows not what she has unleashed. And than that final scene (curese CV no cursing policy). GoT had gotten be to hope again and was brought low for such foolhardy thought.

@bruxae: If you haven't read the books, how do you know the author's vision? Other than book readers complaining about changes how would you know with any context what the implications where? Benioff and Weiss have proven themselves able adapters and authors in their own right in doin Game of Thrones.

I don't know whether I'm desensitized to violence thanks to this show or what, but Sansa getting raped didn't affect me at all. I was more mad that Tommen is acting like a lil b*tch and not sticking up for his queen. If my queen was being carried away by religious nutjobs, I'd have my guard crack some skulls.

Jeez, Joffery was too violent, and Tommen is a pushover.
