Why do people use hell as a motivating fear? For example, some people say "If you don't have sex before marriage, God will send you to HELL!". Others would say, "You had sex? God is not happy. He might send you to hell before breaking one of his laws". People have been saying stuff like this for centuries. Thousands of years. Do people use hell to get people to do stuff?
The Fear of Hell
This is a quote from the anime Full Metal Alchemist.
""God" is nothing more than a construct created by man to inspire fear and promote order."
- Führer King Bradley
Which basically sums up my thoughts in response to the OP's question.
You're gone and I gotta stay high all the time to find (x3)
To keep you off my mind wooo ooo wooo
Oh oh oh oh...
Growing up, the idea of hell didn't scare me so much as God and Jesus did. Them judging me as a bad girl really freaked me out, and my parents looking at me sadly when telling me this made it even worse. Way too much responsibility on my little shoulders, haha. To make myself feel better, I convinced myself all little kids were bad and when we grew up, we'd be good like our parents. Made it much easier to fall asleep at night.
