Anyone live near the beach? Share your beach experiences, or share your worst beach experience. Especially for those who live near venice or the jersey shore.

My freshman year in college, the campus put on a "beach party" as part of their whole freshman orientation. I thought it sounded fun, so I went. We took a bus to Lake Erie, only to learn that the bacteria levels were so high that we couldn't go in the water. It was cool enough that everybody was wearing jeans and hoodies, and the mosquitoes were everywhere. Really set the tone for what a letdown higher education turned out to be.

I live on Long Island, NY...Beach life is a wonderment that those that don't live near the ocean will never understand. There is something unique about water and man...maybe that 70% of our bodies is made up of water is part of the mystery...but lord I do love the beach.

To be honest, I thought this thread was about the Leo De Caprio film...which I personally think is awesome  :)

There's incredible beaches out there, and then there are others that just bring out the weirdest folks. I always see this guy skating around and telling people that it's okay to "swerve". I have no idea:

Hah, I live by both beaches. Well, used to live in Jersey, and now LA.

I remember one time I picked up a crab out of the water at the beach... damn near scared the hell out of me... I thought it was a big rock in my hand till I lifted that sucker up out of the water...

Don't really know how many beaches we have in MI, but I've really only been to one real beach. Water was green and murky and lots of dead fish on the sand.

It's one of those things where you miss it when you're not near, but then ignore it when you're close to it. I'm a few miles away from the beach, and it's great to just go whenever I want. But then again, i don't take advantage of its close distance enough.

I used to live very close to the beach. I've seen that guy around venice before. I'm surprised I haven't seen him anywhere else.

I'd never live on the beach because I'll never be able to afford to. The price of waterfront property is outrageous.

Yeah, he seems to always be there. My friend once saw him head down to the shore and take a guy's board and start surfing. He was good enough that the people weren't mad, but they were laughing hysterically.

I don't really see a lot of strange things at the beach. I should do more people watching.

Where were you at? I take it you didn't see anything weird like a dude in a skin-colored suit.

Here's part two of that news story on that guy. It's pretty cool that he's getting all this attention. But then again, if others see that he's getting attention, more and more street performers will start hanging at the beach.
