One of the greatest and iconic horror films ever made was unleashed on audiences.

I really like the second one but most people don't, yet more people seem to prefer the third one over the second one for some reason... To me the third seems like a diet version of the original.

@mrdecepticonleader: So true, man. I felt like the second one at least tried to be a bit different and add some things of its own to the lore of the series. As you say, the third one is too derivative of the original.

Hmm just watched the one that came out in '12, I should watch the original this Halloween.

Yeah, I mean the second one was directed by Tobe Hooper who made the first one, and I am not sure if he made it more of a comedy since that is what he kinda wanted to go for originally but the first one isn't really a comedy, it is straight up horror, it has its moments though.

I love the second one! Took me years to get it here in Australia as it was banned for so long :-(

Yeah Australia seem to be pretty harsh with censoring things.

Yeah, they've loosed up somewhat these days. Though, MK9 was originally banned and couldn't get it here when it first came out a few years back, till they finally gave an R rating for games and let it through.

@mrdecepticonleader: Probably because the second one was a horror movie for one half, and a cringe worthy comedy spoof the next half.

I didn't think it was cringe-worthy I thought it was great. Had more life than any of the other sequels put together. Sometimes I still get stuck weather the first or the second one is my favorite. It is close.
