Amazing how some records don't attract attention- case in point the State Of Texas recently carried out its 500th execution since 1982( the executee, Kimberley McCarthy was black, her victim white and she was convicted by an all-white jury ). True, Ms.McCarthy was only the third woman to be put to death by the Lone Star State( her unfortunate predecessor was Karla Faye Tucker), but even so, this grisly "anniversary" is hardly anything to crow about(to be fair, Governor Rick Perry unlike his predecessor George W.Bush at least had the good taste not to publicly rejoice about this "milestone").
it could be argued that if you don't kill anybbody in Texas then you have nothing to worry about- but just to be on the safe side, I'm NEVER to going to visit the Lone Star State anyway( not because it has the death penalty- so does Pennyslvania but it seems not to have used it in donkey's years- my cousin tells me that he can't even remember the last execution.)
Anybody think as I do?
Terry
