Sadly this isn't anything new, if you think that the recent spike in vampire culture across the world is to any degree at fault, you're wrong. Roderick J. Ferrell was the leader of a vampire cult and did pretty much the same thing, though he actually succeeded. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rod_Ferrell There's also a group of four or five women who come to mind, they were all lesbians and obsessed with blood drinking and the occult, they picked up a drunk man who was walking home in the country and took him to a secluded area, promising sex. There was some hesitation on the part of one of the members of the group, while they left to argue the man got wise and hid his wallet nearby thinking he might be mugged, the leader of the group came back, killed him and drank some of his blood. Cops found his wallet hidden and something he'd taken from one of the girls and caught them. I can't remember the names off the top of my head and "lesbian vampire cult" isn't the most useful search term on google. But I do remember that it was being covered on the investigation discovery channel, maybe it was the show deadly women or most evil, can't recall...
Not only are vampyres cliche nowadays...they are habit forming and leading to destructive behavior. Dude's insane, period. What's next, a guy claiming police brutality during arrest when he claims to be a lycan? Seriously...
