@rouflex: No one refers to the collected continents of North and South America as "America." They refer to them as North and South America, or rarely, "the Americas." "American" is a widely accepted term for the USA, people need to stop flipping out over this.

Besides, using that logic, we'd better start calling North Korea "the Democratic People's Republic of Korea," and Brazil "The Republic of the United States of Brazil."
