3D Printing is not just the next big thing but it is officially here and getting better every day. Creative people are already changing the world with this technology. What major industries like the automotive and Aerospace industries are making with 3D Printers is the beginning of what will one day be mainstream in people's houses.

The making of parts and products using a computer-driven, additive process, one layer at a time. 3D printing builds plastic and metal parts directly from CAD drawings that have been cross sectioned into thousands of layers.

What are some of the best, interesting objects that have been printed so far.

How far do you think the technology can go in what it could make?

How do you thing 3D will change the world?

I read a good article somewhere about how they've modified a 3D printer to work in space (as well as surviving the rigors of launch), and they're going to trial it in the International Space Station.

They mentioned it could be used to fabricate repair parts in orbit, with the eventual goal of manufacturing new items as well. Potentially they could make satellites, and it also brings the concept of lunar buildings one step closer.

Which is pretty cool.

@killemall: What? Its not clear yet how much it will change the world but the possibilities are huge.

3D printers - in factories will reduce low skill manual labour. And reduce cheap imports from abroad.

3D printers - in homes will reduce transportation costs for cheap plastic objects.

You can make any custom item you want.

Industry mass producing with this item faster then current times.

I want to see how much this technology will be improved but it has great potential.
