Take away the Marvel Logo from GOTG and it Flops

Cult following never lets their stuff dies. Hence Agents of SHIELD never gets cancel.

I could see that happening. But that's how a lot of things are. I'm sure there are plenty of movies that wouldn't sell as well without certain things attached to them (Certain actors, directors, logos/companies)

Your probably right. The movie was still good though. The same thing happens with actors and director too. In a couple of years DC movies won't flop either :)

I haven't seen it so I hesitate to comment, but from those have seen it I have been getting almost all positive feedback. It can't be that bad.

Without the Marvel logo, it would still have the Disney name behind it, so no, it wouldn't flop.

Annnnnd your point is? So what if the movie has the Marvel logo, it's a freakin' Marvel movie, why wouldn't have the Marvel logo on it? Having seen the movie, I'd say that the Marvel logo is the one thing that connects it to the rest of the MCU. The story does a great job at keeping the movie and its characters in their own corner of the universe (galaxy?) which only allows it to better stand on its own. Not once did we get a reference to Iron Man or The Avengers in the film, and yet it was still a great movie overall.

Also, I actually hated Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. originally and gave up after the mid-season finale, yet recently went back and finished the season and I'll admit that once Hydra comes into play the shows becomes a lot better and should be given a chance.

Did it really flop? Or is it just bull pucky. 94 million ain't bad. Also I just watched it, it was good but an other Marvel villains gets beaten with comedy. Also it's not in my top 3 for this year but it was good 7/10

Those movies both had horrible advertising campaigns, GOTG did not.

You are indeed right but that doesn't mean anything. I mean this movie was made to be a Marvel movie so I don't see what's your problem or what kind of point you are trying to prove.

I don't know much about GOTG to judge, but I definitely agree on AOS take away Marvel badge and that show doesn't come back at all.

It kinda needs it. The movie was great but without the collector appearing in thor 2 and avengers references you wouldn't know this was related at all

I don't have a problem with an established and popular brand pushing a product that was not previously well known. Not everyone knows everything, so by pushing the unknown product, we (the consumers) may see something we like.

In this instance I am a long time comic book reader who knew about the Guardians of the Galaxy but has had zero interest in picking up any of their comics. After seeing the trailers for the movie, it looks funny. I am curious. I'll likely go see it. And if it is great, I might go get some of the comics because now I enjoyed something about it.

Anyway, I wouldn't take it all so seriously. Maybe try and be happy about others success. =)

On the contrary, I took a friend with me who is not into comics or marvel movies and she loved it on its own merits. Personally I am a COMICS fan who has been reading primarily Marvel since 1975. I also am a rabid fan of Green Arrow, JL books, Hellboy, and anything else that looks like a good read. I thought GotG was a riot, much more entertaining than xdofp, caws, and I never had an urge to see asm2. The humor is what makes this movie fly in my opinion.
