EXCLUDING RELIGION or CREATION.

What are some of the stupidest, most insane, unbelievable things that someone has tried to convince you is true?

#2 Posted by ssejllenrad (12847 posts) - - Show Bio

Game myths... Especially the older ones. There's a secret level this. Or there's an alternate ending that. Or whatever.

Also, hate to bash on all you Americans but what is it with you and the "USA is the greatest country in the world!" claims when you are the goddamn tourists to that foreign country?!?!? It's not like you're convincing anyone... Ok, maybe a lot of the third world get fooled... And I'm not saying y'all are like that. Just saying tons of you are. And yes, a lot of countries are braggers as well. But Americans... You guys are the proudest tourist I've ever seen! So yeah... "USA is the greatest".... Insane. :p

@ssejllenrad: Um

with all due respect, and not trying to start a flame war, or anything like that just sharing my opinion, but

USA I think is the greatest country in the world because it is filled with "tourist"

or as I would say Immigrants.

I think it's awesome to have a Philipino friend who is best friends with a Black guy who is dating a white girl, and my parents are from Mexico.

My family in Mexico ask me about certain races, and it's crazy for me to think that for them it is such a big deal.

believe me I don't think we're without our flaws and we do have a lot of flaws.

ON TOPIC:

The most stupid thing anyone tried to convince me is true is the exact date when the world is going to end y2k, 06-06-06, Mayan Calendar... etc

When people act like they are totally pure and have no fetishes. Just don't buy it.

#5 Posted by ssejllenrad (12847 posts) - - Show Bio

@yung_ancient_one: Well to each his/her own. Still pretty arrogant and untrue from my perspective. And one last thing... It's spellled "Filipino". I know cause I'm part Filipino. :D

@ssejllenrad: Most of us don't think the US is the greatest country in the world. This is a stereotype that is often over exaggerated. Obviously some of us think this but I have personally never met anyone who thought the US was the best thing to ever happen to the world since Jesus invented the calendar.

I wouldn't even rank the US in the top 5 countries of the world.

In response to the topic, I have a cousin who tried to convince me that an alien race known as Reptilians who live in underground cities and bunkers around the world (and eat kids) are taking over the world. Apparently they can shape shift and appear to be human.
O__o <----- My face the entire time.

I was actually dating this one girl who believed that exact thing. Apparently they come from another dimension. She was so normal up until she brought it up, then it was just... that face you made.

I've had some Theoretical Physics radicals that claim that this could still be true cause they claim the universe is flat... Hehehe!

My little brother once tried to convince me that he had sex with a celebrity

Ummm...gosh darnit, I know there've been times...oh, recently I've had a buddy of mine on Facebook try telling me that the Boston bombings were part of some weird government conspiracy.
Well, technically he didn't tell me anything other than "hate to break it to you". Alex Jones in the video he linked to me did all the talking.

@awesam:

Sometimes humans make me feel bad for being human. I personally welcome the Reptilian overlords should they exist.

#15 Posted by ssejllenrad (12847 posts) - - Show Bio

@yung_ancient_one: Because USA is not the greatest country in the world. Simple as that.

Perhaps he did. "Celebrity" is a vague word. If you have a youtube video with more than fifty likes, some people consider that celebrity status already. :D

You know what, It can actually be true. Theoritical physicists can literally claim anything to be true if they can find a theory.. (Don't go saying, here's another one, I don't actually support universe being flat) But, thermodynamics is likely to be the last science standing if we could prove every scientific theory is wrong. It has the most solid basic among disciplines of physics. Other than that, you'll find many people,very intelligent ones, of each branch trying to uproot its basic theories..

That dragons (as in the mythical type) actually existed,or they were at least trying to insinuate that.

That ghosts/spirits are real and that mediums are actually communicating with the deceased.

They are just hibernating, waiting to bring about the end of all things When you least expect, mankind will be lost in the shadow of black wings unfurled.

This might come across as really creepy (and not really related to the question)...but when I was about 9 I tried to convince a friend that me and my entire family were a clan of man-hunting killers. I detailed how we hunted others and hung their carcasses and bones on our walls.

Here's the creepy part: I went home and told my mom and sis, and they were understandably horrified. But at the time, I just found it humorous that I'd hoodwinked my friend. It never occurred to me that it might've been a little extreme.

They were all like, "YOU ARE NOT BOB! YOU ARE NOT A ROCK THAT CAN THINK AND TALK!" and I was all, "NUH-UH! I AM SOOOO BOB, I AM VERY VERY BOB AND I AM THE PEBBLIEST OF ROCKS!" and they got more annoyed and tried to get me to look in a mirror but I was onto the them and threw myself down onto the road and I rolled swiftly away.

Haters be hatin'.
