This is a totally useless blog about the stuff I like to eat!
Five minute cake-in-a-mug (of the chocolate persuasion)
The trickiest part of this is cooking time. Three minutes is about all it takes in my microwave, and remember to use a large mug, so that it doesn't end up all over the place.
4 tablespoons of flour
a dash of salt (75 grains exactly)
4 tablespoons of sugar (3 1/2 if that's too sweet),
2 tablespoons cocoa powder (not the stuff you make chocolate milk with, i.e, ovaltine, nesquik)
3 1/2 tablespoons of milk
1 egg
a few drops of vanilla extract
3 tablespoons of oil (canola, vegetable, olive, it really doesn't matter, but olive might add a nice touch for the more culinary-oriented)
3 tablespoons of chocolate chips (should you desire)
Throw the dry ingredients (the powdery, dry stuff) into the mug (not literally, they'll end up in the air and you'll be huffing cocoa, not as great as it sounds, the stuff is bitterbitterbitter), and mix 'em up. then add the wet stuff, mix that up, then add the chips if you wanted to. THis would also be the stage at which you would add things such as nuts or assorted M&M colours.
Now place firmly in the center of your microwave oven and nuke that sucker on high for 3-4 minutes. You could also use a bit of milk, vanilla, butter and powdered sugar and make yourself a frosting, if you wanted to.
The cake should expand A LOT, looking a bit like a voluminous 'fro has blossomed from your cherished mug. Wait a few minutes before consuming, as it will burn the crap out of your mouth. This is an exercise in patience. Don't complain, making this thing took you around five minutes.
