Let's talk about church and the weather over some sweet tea, ya'll.
I am actually drinking sweet tea right now.

@humanrocket: B*tch please, I live in a fairy tale land.
I love living in the South.
I live in the heart of Georgia, in a small town. I grew up in the country and was raised in a small 4 room house. I spent my days in the woods playing with my brother.. Swinging from vines over ditches, fishing in a nearby creek, having family dinners every Sunday, playing stickball with my cousins, riding down dirt roads in the middle of the nowhere while drinking a few cold ones.. Eating some good ol' country cookin that my nanny cooked up all the time. It was really a memory I'll cherish my whole life and wouldn't change it for nothing.
As the band Alabama said in one of their songs 'I'm in the heart of Dixie, and Dixie's in the heart of me'
or as Lynyrd Skynyrd said 'You can take a boy out of Dixie, but you can't take Dixie out of a boy'
The South is truly awesome.
...except the humidity.
I wonder where the sweet tea drinking tradition comes from.
Sweet tea certainly is delicious, though.
No idea, but just about everyone I know drinks sweet tea by the gallons. mmmmm...sweet tea.
I don't like the south. Tell me northerners, is it better?
Why don't you like the South?
I don't like the south. Tell me northerners, is it better?
Why don't you like the South?
Because it sucks here man. It's crazy religious here (not the good kind either--the "We hate fags" kinda religious). And don't dare try to live in the south of the south. It's too ghetto, a gang at every corner. And then a lot of people are racist here too. Not saying all these things don't exist in the North cus I've never been. Yeah...not the best environment if you are a Black atheist.

I mean I have experienced some racism in my time, but not that much, just some people saying the N word.. Never seen a hate crime or anything happen. Segregation is pretty much dead where i live (middle Georgia, the deep South).. I see plenty of interracial relationships/marriages.. But yeah I know what ya mean about gangs and crime.. They are bad in certain areas.. and yeah there are some really up tight religious people, but I know a ton of atheists as well (my brother included)..
I don't know what state you're from, but from my experiences living in Georgia all my life (I grew up in a town with less than 5,000 population, and grew up around towns with fewer than that), and being all over the state, I have never experiences any hardcore racism or hate crimes.. Georgia has definitely changed a lot from back in the day. Atlanta is TOTALLY different from what it was way back when. You wouldn't even think you were in the South when visiting Atlanta. My mom and grandma has told me how things were back then and how different it is now.
There is really no difference between north and south parts of the US, except for obvious geographical differences.

I lived in GA when I was little. Then moved to FL and ever since then it's been back and forth. Right now I'm in FL. And I get what you mean too. I guess i kinda just grouped the n word with racism. Also it did seem segregated in some areas in GA. My entire school was black except for like 2 or 3 people. It's more of a melting pot in FL but the races other than blacks don't actually live in the school zone. They come for the magnet program.

big northern cities are more segregated than the south could ever be
big northern cities are more segregated than the south could ever be
really? How so?
@cuddlebear: The new term for segregation is called "real estate."
I don't like the south. Tell me northerners, is it better?
Not really. The political atmosphere is much more tolerant, but racism is much more low key. In New York the race issue is more of a class issue. By that I mean if you're poor and white you might as well be black. Only difference is you can't say the N word to your black friends and you have a slightly better relationship with the police.
@racob7 What state is those pics from?

Really its a simple choice how do you like your racism prepared Honestly(south) or Dishonestly(north)?
@biteme_fanboy: Arkansas, where I live.

Medium-rare
@humanrocket: Really? Couldn't show the states natural beauty?
Echo Park. My childhood park that I was always brought to.
Griffith Park hiking trail and the observatory.
Malibu Cost
Venice Beach at night.
Big Bear Lake
Mammoth Mountain.
Catalina Island.
@humanrocket: Seriously, how can you fail so hard?! No Yosemite, Sequoia, Redwood, Death Valley?! *Shakes head in disgust*
@ostyo: Lol only did it on places I've been to and can say for myself that it's the best parts of Cali.
@humanrocket: Lie next time. *Smack*
Now, the entire state of Oregon makes me the winner easily. ESPECIALLY our coast and coastal rainforest parks.
Too bad the people of this state aren't even close by comparison. <_<
