So I'm going to a Gay Bar (Read Op)

Well, technically, its a LGBT event in a nightclub I'm familiar with. Barring any unfortunate events (feeling depressed that I did badly in my exams). Even though I'm heterosexual, I'm still going

1. I was invited

2. Its free entry

3. I have a card to the said Club which gets me discounts on drinks.

4. I don't feel uncomfortable about it.

So Viners, what do I expect?

Should I dress even better than usual?

Most importantly- If a Gay/Bi person hits on me- how do I tell, and how do I handle it. And before you ask, yes it has happened to me before, but my mates, I felt kinda let him down harshly. And he bought two drinks before hand. :-/

Comedy is more than welcome here, but baiting and outright trolling will result in flagging.

Okay, I think we are good to go.

I'd say dress as you would to any bar and if you're hit on and don't want to be just let 'em know you're not interested; be polite yet firm.

As long as their hot people there for you to spy on, then I have no problem with it.

I've been in this type of situation before. It's like rejecting anyone. Just tell them you are not interested or you don't go that way but if they wanna talk or hang, cool. At least that is what I have done. If they continue to stress the situation in an aggressive manner, then you can just ask security or someone that works there for help.

Just have fun. That's what clubs are for. And to be honest, they are much more fun than the typical "expected straight" clubs. (which there is no such thing of, but people expect just straights only)

But the biggest difference with the open LGBT joints is that, you can be as open as you want, and everyone is out there to have fun (no one sitting at the corner by themselves). In the "expected straight clubs", you'll see groups of people just sitting or standing on the sides of each corner just watching the people in the center having fun.

P.S: Raves are fun as well.

From what I understand, gay bars make extremely strong drinks, so you can expect that.

If you get hit on by someone of the same sex, just start talking about comics, they will most likely be gone in thirty seconds. Tops.

Don't worry, just say you're straight and most of us will leave you alone.If they're being aggressive about it, it's within your rights to be an asshole to them.

Most importantly, just don't stress about it. Seriously. Even if you need to be a total ass to drive off someone. We probably had to do the same to him as well at some point(s).

And if someone is bi who hits on you what is the big deal,if they are bi?

Another way to turn them away from you is by taking about the Juggernaut and the religion of Cyttorak.

Basic laws of any club-scene. Don't accept drinks from people unless you're willing to offer them something in trade, or they're likely to get rather annoyed. (Granted the "trade" can be something as simple as conversation, though that's hard to do in a club). Drinks are insanely expensive nowadays, so it's always best to keep that in mind.  
 
Otherwise, if someone hits on you, just something casual like "Sorry, but I'm just here with some friends" will generally illicit a more positive response than overly sentimental apologies like "Thank you so much. I'm honoured, but I'm heterosexual. Thank you very much anyway, it's very flattering." 
 
It's a club full of people who are looking for companionship, so, and I don't mean this as a slight against you, getting knocked back will mean that your pursuer will just look for someone else who is interested. 

I'm not so sure about the "thanks but I'm straight" line...it makes you more in demand, more of a challenge, esp. when guys like me are drinking. You might try "I appreciate the thought but you aren't my type". Wear whatever you're comfortable in except tight jeans and white t-shirt (you're a bottom), plain black t-shirt (top), or a t-shirt reading "ass man". And for gods' sakes, no leather; it'll attract us like leeches to a bloodbath.

I've been to a few of them, didn't see the big deal. Bars in general are pretty lame and not places I would like to be.

They're just people. If they hit on you just say your straight or not interested. Or lead them on for free drinks. Whatever works for you.

Well i'm assuming most people that go to gay bars are gay and most gay people get picked on, bullied and laughed at.

If someone hits on you simply tell them you appreciate the intrest but that you arent there to hook up with anyone, I assume that everyone isnt there for sex simply because its a gay bar.

And wear what you usually would, perhaps not overly sexy or suggestive if you arent intrested in alot of attention.
