A masterpiece.
The film was flawed; don't get me wrong, but I'm lost for words. It was so ambitious and breath-taking; the direction and power of the film was significant and several themes overlap which make the film all the more great.
The film is one of my most anticipated films in recent years. Definitely giving it a watch.
Did you watch it in IMAX?
@monsterstomp: Every movie is flawed. Even the really good ones.

Truth. CinemaSins taught me this lol
I really want to see this movie, btw. Did you watch it in 3D? IMAX?

I was joking.
@ordinaryalan: I haven't seen it......yet.

@monsterstomp: K.

@ordinaryalan: @knightsofdarkness2: IMAX.
Either way, breathtaking. It's difficult to describe the film with words.

I thought the same, I only had one problem that I think it is more of lack of understanding than anything else. Why did they need to find and habitable planet to do Plan A. I mean they later did it in Saturn and it was the same. I think that the explanation was made so that the professor could convince Coop to go to space but what it made it odd is that neither Cooper or the daughter of the professor noticed it. Other than that doubt the Film was F**king amazing. The acting was amazing, the visuals were amazing, the sounds were amazing (or lack of sound), the scenes were powerful and the themes seemed crazy but fit perfectly in the end.
@black_arrow: They were on a space station orbiting Saturn, made to transport the rest of humanity through the wormhole and to a habitable planet.
But then why did Murph send Cooper to the colony with Brandon´s daughter if they were going to follow them in the end?

It's either a plot hole. Or humanity still didn't know which planet to go to, and Murph was going off of pure belief that Brand was still out there, successful. Or maybe he just couldn't wait.
I don´t think it diminished the film in any way there are some valid explanations they weren´t just needed, at that point the film just needed a closure.
@frozen: So essentially the same praise everyone gives gravity. Space is pretty, Oscars please.
Edit: That may have come off as harsh, but I usually judge movies by the strength of the plot foremost and special effects is further down my list.
How any of the comments said that the special effects were the only unique thing? The plot, the direction, the acting and the relation ship between the characters were as strong if not enough stronger than the special effects.
@black_arrow: @the_tree: I don't think the film had any plot holes, it can't. Time is relative and the future influenced the past; as did the beings from the 5th dimension.

Good god no. When did I even mention special effects?
Don't get me wrong, the effects were great but Gravity is a generic disaster movie in space. Interstellar is so much more; the effects weren't the best aspects.

Well It seemed like a needless change to have them orbit Saturn but It didn´t even bother me as I said above you can give it an explanation you want, it really doesn´t matter.
I heard it was mediocre by both Jeremy Jahns.
Yeah that came off a surprise when if watched, but then again, as much as I love his videos, I tend to disagree with him a lot.
Tarantino, Paul Thomas Anderson and James Cameron have all stated how good the film was.
It's really a great film.

Yeah and I think that the main problem he had didn´t really existed everything that was done had a purpose in the movie.
@black_arrow: Everything did have a purpose, but I found myself in awe; the third act really worked for me. I just love how he blended themes together; second to The Dark Knight, IMHO this is Nolan's best,
Can't wait to see it tomorrow. Also, when did Matthew decide to get serious?
You do know he won an Oscar last year right? He's made like 5-6 films in the past couple years and has given epic performances in all of them,
@jonez120: Did you see it?
How was the characterisation and narrative?
- TAS
Characterization was strong (not on the level of The Dark Knight trilogy, though), narrative was epic and grand in scope.
A masterpiece.

I'll probably watch the film next week.
Nolan looks to have proved himself again :)

Thanks for the info - I think The Dark Knight Trilogy's characterisation is over rated, though.
Nolan's best accomplishment was Joker - who was the best written antagonist in any CBM.

It was a extremely great movie, I don't know exactly why, but some of the science sort of ****** me off.
I saw Mace Runner instead.
What is this Imax and why isn't it out yet in Sweden?
Imax is basically the blu ray of theaters. Higher definition, louder explosions and a bigger screen. And idk why its not out in Sweden but maybe you guys don't need a giant screen to go with giant american egos...

I really don't pay much attention to other directors when they praise movies, I always feel like they are doing it more to pay homage to the film's director (in this case Nolan) as opposed to the film. I usually listen to film reviewers (via Youtube) and the ones I've listen to, Chris Stuckman, Jeremy Jahns, Schmoes Know, AMC movie talk, all came to similar conclusions. The film is good, but it has flaws, far from a masterpiece.
@the_stegman: That's because film-makers saw differently to what critics did. I've read positive reviews from reviewers who literally claim it's as good as 2001, whereas others think it's jumbled. None of these directors had praised Nolan before; which is interesting.
Interstellar in my opinion is a masterpiece. It'll withstand the test of time as one, a flawed masterpiece.
@frozen: I'm still planning on see the movie of course, but now, I'm just a bit more...hesitant on seeing it. I think these guys had a nice long chat about the film, and summed up nicely things they liked and disliked about it.
@the_stegman: Again, it depends on who you take it from. There are some who thought it was okay; but there are literally a handful of reviews from Top Critics claiming it's as good as 2001.
I can see why this film would split people though. Personally I think the film is very unique; that was my draw to it.
It's a really good movie. It has some flaws with exposition, a certain surprise cameo, and bootstrap paradoxes, but its scope is unmatched. The movie has one of the most tragic scenes I've seen in a movie as well as one of the most intense. Nolan is a great filmaker but the guy's ambition can sometimes be to a fault.
See it in IMAX. You're doing yourself a diservice if you don't.

What top critics are claiming this? It's being acclaimed by some but I haven't head of any top critics saying it's comparable to 2001
@14nc3: These are a few Top Critic reviews making that claim. There are also non-Topic Critics.

The power of love ending was lame
Still more emotion than Man of Steel's attempt.....
The love theme was a thematic overlap. It actually worked well and avoided dullness.

Really? An MoS jab? Deeeeesperate. The power of love should only be used in movies about teenage vampires or shows about girls in frilly skirts who fight crime. Not complex space adventure movies .
