I guess now it should be : "What would you do for a Snickers."

That guy looked pretty fit. I'd restrain him too. <3

What the heck is wrong with the employees? It was a Snickers, call the police if it's that big of a deal to you. I'm glad they were fired, or just the one of them.

I was thinking the same thing. This isn't ok. Those employees had NO right to treat him that way. He stole a damn candy bar. If I had caught him doing that at the Shell Station I work at I would tell him to put it back and leave or I call the police. That was assault, sexual assault, battery, and a slew of other offenses. Those d!cks deserve to be more than fired.

#12 Posted by longbowhunter (6998 posts) - - Show Bio

It said shoplifting suspect. Did the guy steal a snicker bar or not?

He didn't have it on him apparently. Why strip search him checking his f*cking breath nimrods.

Christ.

The article says that the guy was charged with robbery, assault and criminal mischief, when only one of the employees was fired. They sexually assaulted the guy ON CAMERA, and that's all that happens? And for a stupid candy bar?

I hate this planet.

Dumbass shouldn't have tried to steal in the first place. He deserved what came to him.

Sexual assault? Well that makes sense.

Next time some lies to me, I'll try to rape them. All's fair, right?

That is awful. I am sorry but stealing a candy bar does not mean that people can do that. Those people can potentially have charges pressed against them. If you ask me what they did was worse than stealing a stupid candy bar.

#20 Posted by charlieboy (7158 posts) - - Show Bio

@Blood1991: I used to work at a convenience store as well and I wasn't allowed to go after shop lifters. You just call the cops. If i ever did something liked that I would have got fired and possibly had charges against me. That can't be legal.

It sure as hell isn't where I'm from! That is illegal for a long list of reasons. How the cops didn't arrest them is a complete mockery of the United States legal system.

@Blood1991: I can't believe people think this is ok or that the guy deserved that treatment.

Lying isn't against the law though. Way to make a bad comparison.

@Gambit1024: What they did is just as illegal as what the thief did. Probably more so. Stealing a candy bar isn't a felony.

A citizen's arrest is completely legal and you know it.

That's irrelevant. Besides, since when does a citizen's arrest consist of ripping the alleged criminal's clothes off?

#29 Posted by charlieboy (7158 posts) - - Show Bio

@Living_Monstrosity: I am pretty sure they don't have the legal right to rip the guy's clothes off. And the stores I worked at did not allow employees to stop shoplifters. It was a liability for the company. Also most of the stores loss prevention I worked for did not even bother with low theft like that. I mean it was a dollar. The whole thing is ridiculous.

Assets Protection have but one guess what is in the person's pocket. If they're wrong, the person is free to go till they're seen stealing again. Blacklisting on grounds they don't need their business is a safer bet. It's pretty stupid they would go to such extremes when there is such a high mortality rate among convenience store clerks.

I don't agree with how the employee handled this, but it could have been easily avoidable if the customer didn't try to STEAL.. Follow the laws, kiddos.

And this. Also add kidnapping to the mix. All three of them should have been fired and charged.
