Shop assistant attacked-for just having red hair!

I must admit that I have long been suspicious of claims that "gingerism"( prejudice against red haired people) is as bad as racism or anti-Semitism, but reading about a recent news item in which a shop assistant was punched so hard by a yob that his jaw was wired shut and he had to eat strained food for months makes me think that this could very well be a valid issue.

Well nothing warrants an attack like that, but are you sure it's JUST because he had red hair and nothing happened beforehand? I find this a little difficult to believe (more like i don't want to believe and hope there's still some common sense left).

Is there a link or something to the article? As others have said, the attack may have been for some other reason. Either way, it's messed up that someone would do something like that.

Why is there such levels of hate against gingers?

Ginger guys are like every other guy out there. A lot of redhead girls out there are walking goddesses.

I see no reason for that kind of hate. Darkseid has been working really hard on humanity lately.....

I should provided a link- here it is(www.dailymail.co.uk, January 7, 2013)- and for the record, the shop assistant says that his assailant called him a "ginger so and so" before the attack!

Attacked for his red hair? Maybe that's more likely to happen in the UK. Can't imagine something like that happening in the U.S. We have enough prejudicial reasons to attack random people(race, sexual orientation). Being ginger....seems pretty insignificant.
