Rick Perry criticized the separation of church and state Tuesday, saying "Satan" is the reason "people of faith should not be involved" with politics.

“Satan runs across the world with his doubt and with his untruths and what have you, and one of the untruths out there that is driven -- is that people of faith should not be involved in the public arena," Perry said on a conference call with former pastor Rick Scarborough as part of the “40 Days to Save America” campaign.

@WillPayton: First of all people of faith are certainly allowed jobs as public servants, as long as they keep their beliefs out of their work, and don't use their position to further their own personal beliefs, especially at the sake of others'.

Rick Perry is a far right wing religious ideologue. I wouldn't expect anything differently really.

Well technically GOD never gave a commandment for his People of Faith to be Politicians or even in a Political Arena... so I don't see how it's Satan who is fooling people into believing that people of faith "should not" be involved in Politics... maybe Satan is fooling Rick Perry into believing that he and others like him should be a Politician and lift up his Religious Dogmas on a Political Platform which would in turn create a Idol of God that is beloved by other deceived humans who believe this bullsh!t Rick Perry does...

Didn't Jesus establish separation of Church and State? "Give back to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's."? So why the hell does this nutcase thinks it's from the enemy of his god? Any Christian, feel free to correct me.

I dont think Perry is too familiar with actual U.S. history. John Adams might also have a thing or two to say on the subject:

Is there an American founding father that was really a devout Christian? I don't really know cause I ain't American but most of the people I hear about are either Atheist, Agnostic or Deist.

I believe many (or, most?) of them were deists. They were Christians, but most of them intensely disliked the Church and organized religion in general. They wanted organized religion out of government because they'd already seen what happens when the two get intertwined. So, yes, some of them were very religious, but they believed it was best kept between yourself and your god.

I really think if they lived today, most would be atheists.

Well if you go by the Bible god seems pretty Okay with killing sinners so I wouldn't be trying to use his religion as an argument against executing criminals
