This is some news I found recently from the state of Washington. Where several elementary schools have been removing swingsets from their playgrounds because they are statistically "the most dangerous playground equipment".ill provide one link to the story here

http://www.kval.com/news/local/Washington-school-district-removing-swings-from-playgrounds-278044511.html?mobile=y

What do you guys think of this?

@sophia89: but wouldn't it be far easier to just teach your kids how to be safe on swings rather then blame the school for having swings in the first place?

Oh, come on now.

Swings? Freaking swings?

They're just looking for things to ban now.

@sophia89: I remember one of those cases I think it was the burglar sued the homeowner for having sharp knives that he accidently cut himself on. And he won!

@sophia89: apparently the case is a little different from what I remember. It wAs actually a high school he robbed and not a home and fell through the skylight and injured himself and sued the school for his injuries and won.

Maybe if parents stopped suing schools and making scenes, stuff like this wouldn't happen.

That's too bad...I used to love swings as a kid. I'd always swing or read during recess. That would've been pretty disappointing to me.

I remember when my elementary school got rid of our jungle gym because they felt it was dangerous. I swear things are getting ridiculous. Sure getting hurt sucks but its part of the learning experience and stuff like swings and jungle gyms have been around for decades and it has yet to destroy an entire generation so why start now?

Better give kids that have been in contact with them 21 days of quarantine now that they are at it.

It's the parents and government, schools are scared sh*tless of being sued. My schools were Catholic schools, so that's why they were a bit crazy with it, the whole not running thing lasted about 18 months, I think it was because somebody fell over and broke their arm. It's so pathetic, if a plane crashes do we eradicate all Planes? An extreme example I know.

I agree with this, people just want to lock their children in bubbles. God forbid they get a cut knee, it's all part of life, they aregoing to fail, f*ck up and have bad days, weeks or maybe even years, I think a lot of children being born now won't know how to deal with an honest to God issue when they hit 25.

@rogueshadow: your last point holds a ton of truth if kids never learn how to deal with issues like getting hurt on their own they will never know how to handle situation in the real world

@sophia89: it should probably be noted ( I don't know if it states this in the article or not) but the schools are removing swings under pressure from insurance companies most likely to avoid lawsuits by overprotective soccormoms
