There are alternatives. Hell I found five just from a simple Google search. I personally use Hulu and Crunchyroll these days to watch whatever I am interested in. For some shows I have to wait until the BDs are subbed because I hate censored anime*.

*not to be confused with censored anime of a more mature nature.
