@cyberninja: Especially, Rap. Have you heard any of these songs (anything with drake, anything with lil wayne, anything with gucci man) I mean seriously what the hell Is snoop dogg doing? He's not even the same rapper anymore, Mainstream hip hop died a long time ago, To truly discover hip hop again I had to go underground.
It still takes talent to make music, but the mainstream music these days is awful. There are still great artists out there you just have to look a little harder to find them.
wow, i feel the exact same way. some artists are still staying true to meaningful music, while others just flash a life that has no soul lol. from the 90's to the 50's, thats where im usually at with all genres.
@unrealgamer38: I'm not saying that I like the musicians that you mentioned but people have been singing about sex and making money pretty much as long as we've had music, sex and money.
it still takes talent to make quality music... its just that the great musicians these days are mainly underground... and not on a commercial level like a lot of these Jokers with their Wooden Guns...

You're going to tell me "she's my cherry pie" has a meaningful message? Music has always had s##t in it and always will and a lot of the time it will be popular.
@Vortex13: I'm not saying that some music wasn't bad, But I believe their was a good balance between the two. Now all I hear Is bland song after bland song that tells you I have money, I have bitches (So sad), I'm on a boat pouring champagne on a girl's chest while smoking copious amounts of weed.

true but there was good music after they died....I'm still waiting for good music after the 90's
@aztek the lost: Actually I've found that you can reduce all songs ever written to being about 6 things, Love,hate,sex,war,death and money they may have different themes but they are almost all rooted on those concepts sometimes the songs could even be about 2 or more of them.
@aztek the lost: Thats true, but when you get right down to it the real reason for this thread isn't really the music its that whole good old days myth, you know that far off time period when everything was great but noone can say exactly what era it took place in
@aztek the lost: You'd think in this era of information over saturation this myth would be the first thing to go, considering that when you look at actual history you'll see that this awesome time period is less likely to have existed than Zeus and winged horses
