I have had a seriously hard time lately finding anything new to watch. I just finished Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood and loved it. Some other series I've watched have been Gundam 00 which I also loved, Highschool of the Dead loved it. I tend to like action series with a good bit of character development. I can't seem to get into the older animation styles like I tried to watch the Gundam series from the beginning and just couldn't get past the animation styles. So I'm really only looking for stuff that I can get in HD
Darker than Black, Death Note, Darker than Black, Attack on Titan's also really good. Did I mention Darker than Black?
so I should stay away from Darker than Black? lol
I've been meaning to checkout Death Note since I've heard a lot of good things about it but just keep forgetting
Try the following:
Sword Art Online
Full Metal Alchemist
I have watched a good bit of YuYu Hakusho back when it was on Cartoon Network
I tried to watch Fullmetal Alchemist after I watched Brotherhood and I kind of felt like I was just watching the same show over again
are there any Macross/Robotech's that are in HD?
Not sure about ANIME, but I can recommend Manga.
Soul Eater, D-Grey Man, Death Note, and Fairy Tail are the ones I'd recommend to anyone. If you liked Full Metal Alchemist, I'd especially look into D-Grey man though.
That being said, if you have some patience, I'd recommend Bleach, One Piece and Naruto. The series are pretty good, but one piece and bleach had me loosing interest and I stopped reading them (Although a LOT of people liked them though, so I thought I would recommend them), while naruto only really gets good post time skip.
If you don't mind some... adult themes, Claymore and Gantz are really good. Yea, just be careful who you watch Gantz with.
My final recommendation would definitely be Hajime no Ippo though. Its probably my all time favorite series. It has intense fighting, fun characters, LOTS of development, and is unexpectedly inspirational.
I like Soul Eater. I heard Trigun is good. Both are on Netflix.
Can anyone give me a plot summary about what Death Note and/or Darker than Black are about?
I don't know about Darker than Black, but Death Note is great..though the second act does drop in quality quite a bit. Basically, there's this really intelligent, but bored high school kid named Light Yagami. He thinks the world is rotten due to crime and war holding humanity back from realizing its true potential. Meanwhile, in the "Shinigami Realm" where gods of death live in infinite boredom, a shinigami named Ryuk decides to drop his Death Note in the human world for fun. Light finds the notebook, and realizes that by writing a person's name in it, the person will die. He soon teams up with Ryuk and decides to rid the world of criminals and become the ''god'' of the new world. Meanwhile, L, the world's best detective is trying to figure out who Light (now calling himself Kira) is and put a stop to his wicked ways, both think they are fighting for justice, but only one can win.
@superdrummer: I can't do manga...I've tried but I just can't do it...plus I read to many books right now as it is and I've been using tv shows as a breather from that
@mikethekiller I've tried watching Claymore once before but I don't know if it was me or the show but I lost interest rather quickly...I'll have to give it another try at some point
Have you tried the big three? naruto/op/bleach? Any one of them is nice, and should entertain you for a while. Other than that, history's strongest disciple, fairy tail, code geass, are worth a try. Sword art online is nice from what've heard..
lots of stuff that I haven't heard of here before so I plan on checking out a lot of them....thanks guys
If you have trouble choosing which to watch, put all the suggestions in a poll and then you can start from the ones that get the most votes. Anyway, just a thought.
Blood Lad. A vampire that isn't interested about Blood, but Japanese culture and no not Traditional Japanese culture, Anime.
Baccano. It will get confusing but it delievers a palette of goodness when you get it. There is no Chronological Order for the episodes you watch here, you may think there is but its just how this Anime is.
Durarara(I recommend watching Baccano before you watch Durarara)
Champloo btw. On the other note. Yes watch Samurai Champloo.
Kami tenchi. Start with Universe or Ryo-Ohki.
Gurren Lagann. Surprised people didn't mention this but I'm sure you've watched it right? No? Watch it.
Eureka Seven. Can't describe this one, not because its great! But I kinda ran out of words here.
Guilty Crown. Cesspool of emotional twists. Twists? Yes, A twist which will make you hate this Anime and at the same time Liking it.
And last but not least
School day..... Scratch that don't watch School days. Just don't.
My personal top 3:
All 3 are a good watch.
Monster is more mature, it's slow with a lot of character development. There is almost no action, but the psychological debt makes up for it. All in all the best anime imo.
Steins;Gate also starts of slow, the first episodes are more like a slice of life, comedy anime, but when the plot kicks in, be prepared to be amazed.
CB is just amazing. That's all.
Deadman Wonderland is full of action and superb character development which, based on your description, should be perfect for you.
Too bad they didn't continue the anime past Genkaku's defeat :(
I agree I was very much dissappointed. Though honestly I preferred the manga.
I'll just drop 6
Samurai Champloo (Awesome OST, Awesome leading cast, Mugen)
Bacanno (Awesome OST, Awesome characters, Awesome story, Ladd Russo)
Angel Beats (Awesome OST,Emotional)
Code Geass (Best Plot I've seen in an anime, Best ending I've seen to an anime)
Hajime No Ippo (Awesome characters, Great OST, Badass Takamura)
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann (Just really entertaining and inspirational)
LONG LIST AHEAD..no order
Full Metal Alchemist
Yu Yu Hakusho
The Big O
Ghost in a Shell
Darker Then Black
Hunter x Hunter
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Baki The Grappler
I'm missing some
