I just reread the hobbit. Hopefully the movie will be able to capture how much of a bad ass Bereon is. (I forget how his name is spelled, that could be right but I'm not sure)

I re-read Sun Tzu's Art of War every summer. So good.

Also, "Paying for It" by Chester Brown is really good.

just finished "Three Cups of Tea" and it was a pretty interesting read
but I have a vested interest in Kashmir/Pakistan, being that I've had to go there so many times for work
but it's a fascinating book and very unique story about someone making the best of a bad situation and then trying to make up for lost time by making the forgotten parts of the world a better place

I read the first 100 or so pages of Perry Moore's, "Hero," couldn't finish it though.

And now I'm trying to read "Girl With the Dragon Tattoo."

I'm reading the Kite Runner now, not as good as his other book, Thousand Splendid Suns, but pretty good

Just got done reading the Dark Tower saga by Stephen King, started out good but each book got progressively worse. Incredibly disappointing.

The Lord of the Rings, the Silmarillion is pretty cool...

Nietzche's Books are cool too, "Also Sprach Zarathustra" is a good one.

Also Arthur C. Clarke's Space Odissey: 2001, 2010, 2061 and 3001.

I recently finished a book titled Holy Superheroes that does a study into the use of religion in comics and how the creation of many of the characters was inspired by different religious figures, particularly from Christian and Jewish faith. I liked it so much I picked up another book on the subject called the Gospel According to Superheroes which is much more in-depth and seems to be geared more toward the avid comics reader. Highly Recommended.

I've been reading A Song of Ice and Fire with my g/f.  Great series.  It's what Game of Thrones on HBO is based off of.

Currently reading the Malazan books, frickin adictive as all else if you're into the fantasy genre, be warned though, calling the series enormous is an understatement, I think it's currently at 12 books and almost all of them are 1200+ pages in paper back with tiny print to boot.  The only books I've enjoyed  more than this series are Martin's Song of Ice and Fire, course the old coot needs to hurry up and finish that series, lol.

I remember starting Tai Pan when I was a kid. But before I'd got through the 5th chapter someone showed me the movie. Which was so terrible I lost all interest in the book.

Lately I've read Anna Karenina. Not the kind of thing I go for usually, but it was unbelievably good. I especially liked the character Levin.

Also, Incidents in the life of a slave girl by Harriet Jacobs. It's a harrowing read that will leave you seething with anger in places. But it's a must read imo.

If anyone is in to the Dexter books then the latest one is really good. The last 2 sucked so it was quite a pleasant surprise.

I've just started Heart of darkness and intend to watch apocalypse now once I finish it. I've only just finished the first section and I have mixed feelings, but I'd say the positives outweigh the negatives so far.

I love having Kindle on my phone. It's meant I can really catch up on my reading and I have several titles to start when I finish the ones I'm on now. As well as meaning that I've been able to try several free books that I wouldn't have given a second glance under normal circumstances.

I had mixed feelings about this book, but I have a feeling something important was lost in translation (I've read it in Russian).
