So The Ben Affleck has been casted as batman for the man of steel sequel any thoughts and opinions on this and how do you think he'll fit as the worlds greatest detective

Seems like the perfect Batman (other than Christian Bale).

My first reaction was that it wasn't my choice but I'll give it a shot, my second reaction was a hearty laugh at the people lying and saying they won't go see this movie over this, and then a sigh about the cry baby bitching that will fill the next couple years over it.

I have conflicting feelings about this choice. In one hand, he was nowhere near who I would choose to play Batman. On the other hand, he is a very competent artist despite the hate he gets.

Well at least I don't have to worry about Batman doing a bad Cookie Monster impression anymore.

Pretty much covered what I was about to say.

this is so good. it's going to suck so badly. ben affleck is a good director. as an actor he is mediocre at best. the trainwreck duo is complete now. 2 stiff actors playing stiff characters. oh man now i am excited. add snyder and this is gold. it's going to be so stupid. it might even exceed man of steel. i can only hope.

Well, lets hope they don't make him use the silly Batman voice from the Nolanverse. That was one of the things that annoyed me about those films (and I really like them).

@willpayton: if he doesn't care it'll be just like daredevil but he is interested then it'll be Argo or the town level but I mean lets see remember how everyone was upset about Heath ledger as joker but now everyone loves him as joker but its is interesting once he has said he won't play another superhero again after daredevil

Ben Affleck? Batman?

It could work....it could work...

@supernategames: don't put all your eggs in one basket their buddy you haven't seen him as batman and ehat if he sucks then what sometimes someone looks the part just can't act the part

...but he did so well as Daredevil...

Although I didn't see this coming, I have no objections.

IIRC hasn't he already stated that he has no respect for comic characters...I just can't see him as Batman.

I feel like that was an identity thing. Didn't have to be a throat cancer noise. I'd settle for a nice serious tone though.

He might do a good job.

@joygirl:

I'll hand you a paper bag, breathe deeply and slowly.

I think we should give him a chance, he's done some pretty good movies since Daredevil. Can't judge until we at least see a trailer scene in my opinion.

@joygirl:

Think about puppies. Everyone loves puppies right? Need a shoulder to cry on? Vicodin? Just no dying over spilt Ben Affleck.

I hope he does a good job. i'm just afraid Snyder tries to make this too much like the Dark Knight Returns which would be dumb. You cant jsut introduce Batman to Superman and do the TDKR stuff in the same movie. You need decades of history and context for that to make sense.

#27 Posted by Joygirl (15330 posts) - - Show Bio

@granitesoldier: I would have rather they cast Dolph Lundgren. :( I would have rather had Christopher Walken... at least that would have been funny. "WHOA!! 'Mh Batman!" Hell I would have accepted James Franco as his character in Spring Breakers. "Look't all mah sh!t! Ah got... batarangs... n' smoke bombz... ah got awl kindsa sh!t!"

#28 Posted by DarkShadows (742 posts) - - Show Bio

I guess it could work.

#29 Posted by GraniteSoldier (4499 posts) - - Show Bio

@joygirl: I agree. Definately not my first choice and I absolutely have my doubts. But he'll surprise us right? Can't be as bad as Clooney and his Bat-nipples at the very least.

#30 Edited by Joygirl (15330 posts) - - Show Bio

@granitesoldier: He's never surprised me before. O.o Seriously, did the casting director not see Pearl Harbor?

@joygirl: Oh God I forgot about Pearl Harbor. Thanks for reminding me!!!

ahhh, I certainly feel vindicated, so what was that about people wanting this movie to exist? whatever, Affleck is fine, whine about things that matter.

I myself wasn't even thinking of this dude. At first I was like Darth Vader: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO and then I was considering killing myself. But I thought about it and I could see him as Batman. For some reason, I still can't see him as a good Bruce Wayne. Maybe its me or am I gonna be thinking of DareDevil the whole time I watch the movie?

#36 Edited by Glitch_Spawn (17123 posts) - - Show Bio

At first I had a good laugh and then when that subsided I just didn't care all that much. It could be good. It could be bad.

Either way I think the movie will be a miss.

I'm willing to give him a chance. I think the reactions are hilarious as sht though.

#41 Posted by Setherial (209 posts) - - Show Bio

NO NO NO NO NO.

Only one who will get a benefit from this is George Clooney, since Affleck will take his place as the worst Batman.

Wouldn't it be something if Ben Affleck shows himself to be a good fit for Batman ? It's a heck of a call...

Watch, when stills come out and we get trailers, the same ppl complaining will be singing his praises and sucking his batarang

Hmm...Ben Affleck as Batman. Well why don't we just replace Zac Snyder with Kevin Smith, that way even if it tanks I still get to say I saw Jay and Silent Bob in Gotham City.
Your move Hollywood! Choose wisely.

I love how comic fans are always complaining that they want the industry to surprise us but when they do something unexpected the majority of us turn into screaming children.
