This is a discussion thread.

But how old would they be for you to let your child to watch tv series and movies on televisions that are Rated R/TV-MA. Personally I would base it less on age, and more on maturity level, but if I had to pick an age, I would say maybe 12.

I actually think 13 years old minimum might be a more ideal age for watching MA or R Television material... but in this day and age... it just seems like Sex and Violence is a massive part of media... so you wont be able to really guard your children from all this stuff for too long.

1. Depends on the show/movie and why it's rated the way it is. Something being R just for language is incredibly stupid, since most kids are going to hear strong language - no way around it,

2. Depends on the child.

Depends on the child's sex and maturity. I guaranty most parents would let a son watch worse stuff than a daughter.

That's a ridiculous, outdated notion. I'd never treat my son or daughter differently.

Hey I didn't mean to make waves. I myself have no kids, But I believe I would watch a Nightmare on Elm street movie with a 12 year old son before a 12 year old daughter. In my head it was more of a bonding thing than a sex issue. Sorry about the stereo type. Hope we're cool?

Kids these days are learning sex-ed at 11, so really 11-13 at minimum for watching MA or R Television material isn't bad.

If I knew the kid could handle the show in question, I'd let them watch it. Pretty simple.

Around 11, but it depends on gender, and the way the child acts
