question for Dexter fans

Is anyone else beginning to think Edward James Olmos's character this season isn't actually real? He only appears in scenes with Colin Hanks and never does any of the killing so far, which is why at this point I'm starting to think he's just a figment of the real killer's imagination

I never really thought about it, but giving the religious context of this season it seems highly likely.

That's a possibility. It's only 3 episodes so far, so it's hard to be sure. At first I thought they were father and son, and they were using that relationship as a parallel to Dexter and Harrison. Sort of an ominous possible future thing.
