I've been thinking about saving up money and buying a handheld so I can play video games on my spare time. Since I'm the only gamer in my house at the moment, I don't see the point of buying a traditional console. My older brother, who has a 3DS, says I should get a 3DS because he says the PS Vita is just a small version of the PS4. I really like the library of both systems, and it's hard for me to decide. What do you guys think I should get?

I don't really understand why being the only gamer would influence the decision of buying a home console. Out of these two though I'd go with the 3DS

It really depends on what you prefer. If you're all for Super Mario, Zelda, Pokemon and Nintendo exclusives, that's what the 3DS is all about. Sony's treatment of the Vita thus far is a little depressing but it has some decent games like Gravity Rush, Uncharted and Sound Shapes.

You should look at games on each system and decide what interests you more. I personally have always enjoyed Nintendo handhelds and they get tons of support and a vast variety of games. The Vita, much like the PSP was, is very limited and one dimensional in the way games are designed for it. Nearly everything is just a port that you can already find elsewhere. It's not a bad thing, but it's also not very refreshing either. When I personally buy a console/handheld, I do it to get something I can't get anywhere else.

I might just get a 3DS then, plus they just came out with the much cheaper 2D version. I really like the Vita but it's much more expensive.

Why would I pay the extra 100-200 for a PS4, XBox One, or Wii U for something I'll just play by myself?

Definitely 3DS. Not only more good games, but some of them I've put over 100 hours on.

Always chose Nintendo for handheld systems.
