You're probably much less likely to contract a STD from a sensible prostitute compared to your average one night stand as prostitutes in general are more likely to have frequent STD tests and use condoms which can't be said for all one night stands and the like.@Swagger462 said:

Call me old fashioned for a teenager, but prostitutes are unnecessary and should stay illegal.

So what you're saying is because you don't like it even though it doesn't hurt you other people should not be able to do it safely? High fashion clothing, fast cars, enormous houses, alcohol, cigarettes, huge TV and computer screens, video games, unhealthy food and many more things are unnecessary. By your own logic they should be illegal too.
So what your saying is the spread of HIV and AIDS is comparable to clothing, cars, houses, TV, computers, and video games. It's unnecessary because if you want sex, you can work for it the safe way. You don't need to resort to a prostitute, it's degrading to yourself and to her.

And to that I must ask, what sensible woman is a prostitute?
Perhaps the sort of woman that realizes that sex sales and lots of money can be made in prostitution...And to that I must ask, what sensible woman is a prostitute?

And lots of jail time, abuse, very close to attraction of STD's. Sorry, but I think there are other ways to get sex then resorting yourself to a prostitute, if you need a prostitute, then there are probably more problems with your love life that need attending to first.
If she's sensible she should be to avoid any trouble with the law and prostitution is legal in some places or at least tolerated, not all prostitute are abused and the possibility of STD's should be less than of your average promiscuous woman as protection is more likely taken by a prostitute with any sense.@Thirteen13 said:

If she's sensible, truly sensible, she'd get a better job. And I'm assuming we're talking the common ground of a country where it's illegal, that's what this thread is assuming. Therefore, problems with the law is almost inevitable, and abuse may fluctuate but it happens, and STD's are not 100 percent stopped by condoms. And then once she gets it, she's screwed (assuming it's something like HIV).
A better job? A prostitute can probably make more on her back per hour than a brain surgeon without any qualifications or training. If you're talking about drug addicted street walkers than fair enough, but not all prostitutes are on drugs and on the streets.@Thirteen13 said:

Against it. We don't need STDs to spread more than they already have.
You don't need hookers to spread STD's. We can do that just fine without them.
True. But if you have sex with a prostitute, you're having sex with someone who literally has sex with random people for a living. Your chances of not getting an STD from that aren't too great.
also it is not as simple as you all really think it is,in my opinion it is their choice,i just don't support it because that is a terrible life to live, and at their moment,it is the best thing, however they still gotta make money, but it is still the only thing they have as support, however they can get so much more

Theres the Bunny Ranch in Navada which is a Brothel/Breakfast eatery. Never been but seen it on television and it's as legal as Dennys.
I guess it's where I grew up. But I know hoes, drug dealers, jack-boys (Thats slang for armed robbers/car jackers ect) and such. Who cares, it's their lives, i'm just happy I didn't become a statistical stereotype.

Haha, that's actually funny. Do you know what the feminist movement was dude? The goal was to allow women to have the freedom to act and live as men do. Part of that is being perceived the way you want to be. I have had many clients at work that are prostitutes, strippers and porn stars and they all say the most degrading thing that can happen to them is having some high horse riding douchebag explain to them how even though they don't know it they must feel degraded and used.
As far as a lot of them are concerned it's just a job. They don't have the same opinions on the importance and intimacy of sex as you do. That doesn't make them subhuman. Furthermore in the few legal brothels here in Melbourne there are security, duress buttons and condoms are mandatory. If it's part of your job to use a condom then you're less likely to pass on anything than someone getting wasted and having a one night stand with some random.
P.S. What I compare to HIV and AIDS is irrelevant. The implication in your first post was that because it's unnecessary it should remain illegal. I was pointing out how profoundly ignorant that is. But like I already established, if it was legal then HIV and AIDS wouldn't be as bigger issue as you're trying to make out.
