The people that get nutrition from rare meats and blood are actually suffering from a disorder known as porphyria it was believed that they were vampires in that past due the effects they were extremely sensitive to sunlight and would burn easily, also there body chemistry was out of wack, so they would look pale and thin.
Honestly Vampirism is nothing new. People have been practicing Vampirism as long as the first cities were made. After you cut threw the bullshit coined from Bram Stokers and the like, you get to the truth. Vampirism is like Wiccan. It is a belife, and has alot of followers.
