Pokemon X and Y Discussion Thread

Just picked up my copy about an hour ago and already have a fire, grass, water, electric, bug, and psychic. What are your favorite new features?

Personally I love the xp share and the fact that catching a Pokemon gives xp as well

Well, i still haven't picked mine. I will get it in 18 minutes. But after seeing the initials main stats i will probably get Chesnaught. greninja is way to weak:

I've spent so much time on the little stuff that doesn't matter like the video editor and random battles. Don't even get me started on Wonder Trade. You put in a pokemon and get a completely random one back, nothing influences it. I put in a 14 butterfree and got a 2 caterpie lol!. It's only gonna be a matter of time til it's completely flooded with bidoofs XD then again it's a great way to fill the pokedex.

I picked Chespin because Chesnaught looks BA but I think Delphox would have been better for my team statistically. Make sure to get your Torchic's through mystery gift as soon as you get the game. Blaziken was already uber in BW so it can only get better considering the mystery gift comes with blazikenite.

I picked it up this morning, had to go to two Walmarts to get Pokemon X, as the first Walmart had apparently sold out already and only had Y.

I'm already in the third town, but I haven't battled the first gym yet. Just caught a male Litleo on Route 22, took like an hour to find a male one though.

I love the character customization, I just blew all of my money on a cap but I could careless because it's just too awesome! xD

Seeing as I don't have a 3DS or 2DS and am currently not swimming in it, financially-wise, I'll just stick to my trusty White 2.

The thing which makes me so bitter about not getting Pokemon X & Y is the fact you get a kanto starter at the beginning, damn it!

Wow, poor Magikarp. It's animation in the game is just so...sad. xD

Am I the only one who finds it weird that their are only 69 new pokemon?

Starter Chespin and Squirtle. Also you can get Torchic from a special Wifi Gift/Event style give away.

One of the trainers I battled had a Magikarp, it's animation just has it flopping around like a fish out of water...it's so sad. xD

Those are the same starters I picked as well. I also have a Litleo that I'm trying to level up into a Pyroar, he looks beast! ^_^

@bawlsz: Is the Torchic US only as always?

I picked Froakie and Charmander as starters.

So sad, Yvelteas looks badass and turns out to be weak to a Deer.

@maccyd: You can get the Torchic gift/event in the UK. Not sure about other countries, but it says the event will end Worldwide 15th January 2014, so i reckon it's available worldwide.

I ended up picking Fennekin and Charmander. This turned out to be a bad choice, as I'm now stuck at the rock gym. My kingdom for a Squirtle...

If you live in the US, you can pick up Torchic off an event. Fire/fighting can help.

I really like Charizard X and Heracross's mega form. Unfortunately you can only get both in X and I have Y.

Does anyone else think they should have given the pikachu family fairy-type? They have a small electric mouse that is electric/fairy, it would be nice to give pikachu another type to be more helpful.

Yeah, I got that Torchic, and no, it didn't help. On the bright side, I managed to get a Squirtle.

They better make this into an on-going series, that battle was seriously intense and the fact that the main character can actually capture Legendary Pokemon is just too cool for words.

They seriously do, I also like that Pokemon: The Origin appears to follow the rules of the games rather than the show with Ash.

I really want Pokemon X & Y, however I don't have a Nintendo ds system. Is the new Nintendo 2ds worth getting for a price of $129 just so I can play Pokemon. Does it include all the functionality that the 3ds? I'm simply curious.

I bought a 2DS solely for Pokemon X and it plays exactly the same as it does on the 3DS, the only difference between it and a 3DS is that the 2DS doesn't display things in 3D like it does on the 3DS. If you don't care for playing games in 3D, but still want to play 3DS games, I'd suggest buying the 2DS. I did it and I can still enjoy everything the 3DS has to offer, I just don't have that little 3D switch. You also save $70.

Yup, I have Pokemon X and have played through it and the graphics look great. The only difference between a 2DS and 3DS is that it doesn't have that little switch on the side, like the 3DS does, that changes the screen to appear all "3D'ish." But Pokemon X and Y still looks exactly like it does in the all of the advertizements and does not require the 3D display that the 3DS provides.

@war_killer: Thanks for the info. I'll be purchasing a Nintendo 2DS probably the beginning of November. I have 2 games I have to get this month.

Got Y on Saturday an am loving it!!

I was too young for the first generation games, so it feels incredible to finally be able to raise a Squirtle. I now have a Mega Blastoise, which I personally think is the coolest of the Mega Starters.

Damn, this game is killing my social life and school notes.

Wait you can get previous gen pokemon?

I got Froakie, Bulbasaur, and Torchic but I put Torchic and Bulbasaur into my box because 3 starters take up to much space and only using one makes it feel classic. I'll probably level them up on the side though in case I need/want their mega forms

Waiting for a internet connection to get my Torchic before I tackle the first gym. Chespin, Torchic and Squirtle for the win!

I can say that mega blaziken is BEAST. As someone who has played and beat every generation of Pokemon since it came out, the megas are kinda gimmicky competitive play-wise but the addition of fairies was much needed because dragons were OP. the tournament scene is gonna be more alive than ever now with easy access EV training and all the new features in XY. I'm not getting poke bank though so its gonna be tough to find some of the legendaries/popular ones I need for my sunny day team. My steel team is pretty great right now but I need to do more stat research to see if some pokemon are worth the slot like aegislash

I went Chespin and Squirtle as well - Day One of the game's release. It's my very first Pokemon game, and I am greatly enjoying it.

Evolved my Riolu to Lucario, and I'm now working on evolving my Quilladin, Tyrunt, and Honedge.

@kthanid: Just curious, but why aren't you getting Pokemon Bank?
