Pokemon gen 6, Pinsir's hope.

Pinsir. My fave bug Pokemon. To me Pinsir and Scyther were the Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan of the bug world. Scyther was the ninja, and Pinsir was the brawler. They balanced each other well I thought. Skip forward 16 years or so. Most of the none-evolvers from gen one have evolutions, or pre-evolutions. Or both!

Time and again Nintendo has reached back to gen 1 when making new Pokemon until only five remain.

Pokemon that originally had no evolutions/pre-evolutions, but got them in later generations.

This is not a bad thing. I'm just making a case here. Showing how Nintendo has scraped the barrel for new Pokemon ideas. If you wonder what scrapping the bottom sounds like, its giving Tangela an evolution.

Other gen 1 Pokemon that got evolutions/Pre-evolutions after gen 1.

Most of these guys didn't need cool new forms. And yet poor Pinsir was overlooked again. As I said earlier, there remain five unevolving gen 1 Pokemon (Legends exempted) so here's why Pinsir deserves a evolution the most in gen 6.

1) Farfetch'd.

Farfetch'd is what I think of as a stand alone character. It has no counterpart. If it had a counterpart (Like Pinsir/Scyther) then I could see it evolving this late in the series. But it doesn't.

2) Tauros.

Tauros could evolve, but it has a counterpart. Miltank. Its would only be fair to evolve them both. So evolving Pinsir is easier, less work to write.

3) Lapras.

I'm actually pro evolution for Lapras. I love Lapras. The only reason I would choose Pinsir over Lapras is the already over abundance of water Pokemon. (Water and duel water types, 115. Bug types, 60.)

4) Ditto.

What would it evolve into? I mean, really?

It's about time Pinser got some love. He/she is actually a great fighter against Dark types since it's high attack stat usually cuts through their (usually) low defence. Also what about Heracross, he's usually seen with Pinser now.

@wildvine: Farfetch'd and Tauros need love. Ditto and Lapras are fine. Lapras especially is a terrific pokemon.

Heracross is better than Pinsir in almost every way.

This was actually about him getting an evolution. Not so much about battle stats.

I think every pokemon is going to become somewhat relevant since there is Dream World and Megaevolutions.

Welll. Dream world didn't do that for everyone. And Megaevolution isn't permanent and will mostly likely come as a trade off.

IE: Mega Garchomp gets attack and special attack boost, but loses speed in Mega form.

True, but I don't think Garchomp needed a megaevoluton, it was close enough to ubers as it is.

But I agree with ya, bug types need more love and power(Heracross and Volcarona).

I think he looks awesome to be honest lol. Mega Blaziken is still the best as of right now though imo.

He does look kinda like a Lovecraftian water bug.

My point was love for Pinsir more specifically.

Its going to be OP as shit though. His ability will change to Sand Force in mega form, his attack will double in a standstorm T.T

Farfetch'd is too cool to need an evolution.

Aw! I'd love to see Pinsir get a pre-evolution/evolution. He's really cool! =D Great thread. Would be cool to see Lapras get a new form as well.

I say Pincy, for a preform, and Mandibrawl for an evolution.

Wait...so you're saying that thing was an EVOLVED version of Scyther? Why do that to one of my favourite pokemon, nintendo, why?!

On topic: I can't choose I want all of the ignored gen 1s to have an evolution (except for ditto, why evolve when you can just copy it? :P)

Pinsir needs it more. He had to watch his buddy Scyther evolve. That's very tramatic. I assume.

@wildvine: Yep, Scizor, though I overdramatised...slightly... it looks more like a preform to me than a evolution, pretty much a child version of Scyther.

I'm not sure Ninty consider them counterparts anymore as one was ignored while the other wasn't.

Random idea: Haven't played Pokemon in while but crossbreeding would be cool, breed two certain types and you get a pokemon you otherwise couldn't get, I'd be a quadrillionaire! There is crossbreeding already if I remember but it only affects stats of the child and nothing more.

@maccyd: You can breed 2 different Pokemon, as long as the egg type is compatible. Example: Charizard and Dragonite can breed. Females determine offspring and nature (with an Everstone) and Males pass on learn able moves.

So if I had a male Dragonite with Dragon Dance and a Female Charizard, my egg would be a Charmander that knows Dragon Dance.

And Scyther and Pinsir have nothing to do with each other, other than they're both bugs who were introduced in gen 1.

And Scizor is my favorite pokemon (not even close) so don't you dare say bad things about him! >:O

I agree. I just feel he shouldn't have got left behind. And this would be the prime time to rectify said mistake.

That is a million dollar idea. But it would have to be limited.

@wildvine: limited as in not many pokemon? It'd probably work best like original breeding in that breeding mostly only gives you the usual pokemon but certain ones like pikachu gave you a new pokemon (pichu... i think...been so long)

So crossbreeding a dragonite and charizard would end up like @fallschirmjager said, while crossbreeding a Pikachu and Mewtwo would create a Mewchu! :P

Nice blog, I am a bit out of my element when it comes to Pokemon but I really enjoyed reading this and it was well set up. I feel like my Pokemon knowledge has doubled and then... evolved... hah hah get it.. because Pokemon and the evolution and the new forms and the.. oh you did get it... you just didn't laugh cause its not funny... oh okay.. I see how it is... **runs away with tears streaming down face humming I want to be a Pokemon master** Go... **sob** go **sob** Whoo!

Flash forward three years and Pinsir and Kangaskhan get Mega Evolutions leaving four Gen 1 non-evolvers untouched by Alola Forms or any improvements.

(Although we can now ride Lapras and Tauros in game and Ditto is still useful)
