I'd love to play some pc games...unfortunately to play the games at their best you need to spend like 2 grand on a pc....that's why I play on my PS3 or Xbox 360....no pricey upgrades and the games look awesome
shame that you have to limit yourself to things beyond 2007. you could see where Call of Duty began!
but I'll just say Medieval Total War 2... i think that was after 2007, but no promises
I'd second the recommendation for Neverwinter Nights.
Its a great rpg game with a reasonably long campaign, if you've ever played Baldur's Gate its a homage/re-invention of that by the same company.

Pretty much this. There is also an Icewind Dale game similar to these that is a great rpg.
I would mention some mmo's but if I remember correctly in one of our other conversations you said you are not into them.
I'd recommend Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines, but it's 2004. However, it still has a big user community with fanmade (and a lot of the fans are the developers of the actual game btw) patches and dlc (including upgraded graphics). It's a great game!

Seems like the best Recommend yet o.o :)
@ReVamp: It's amazingly addictive! You'd have to get it from eBay but it's totally worth it. The community has added multiplayer, new characters, new powers, new missions, new dialogue -- they are super invested in continuing the game.
@ReVamp: I see. In which case I would say Splinter Cell. Not one of my favorites, but a pretty decent series.
The Witcher or the Witcher 2 are third person, but not shooters. They're rpg, and are popular. I can vouch for the first one as being good (kinda buggy though) so I'd say to get the second one if you wanted to give it a go.
Also, if you are into star wars Jedi Outcast is quite godly, but way before 2007
Portal: Im pretty sure you've already heard of the game but you really should play. I mean talk about being one of the most hilarious games I have ever played and it does have some of the best puzzles I have ever played in a game.
League of Legends: Okay this game does not have campaign, it's just you choosing a hero and playing against the other heroes to destroy their base of operations. But it's a great strategie game and it's free to play and the only stuff you have to pay for is for alternate costume's or xp and money boost's.
