Oswaldo Paya, a noted Cuban dissident died last week in an alleged car crash according to the authorities. Although I am usually skeptical of conspiracy theories( see my last blog post), it is worth noting that car crashes /accidents are a favoured assassination MO of Soviet bloc security services-Paya reportedly feared for his life according to his friends and family- pace Blessed Theodor Romzha, Greek Catholic archbishop in !947, Soviet Jewish actor Solomon Mikhoels the next year , former Soviet Foreign Minister Maxim Litvinov in December 1951, and the KGB reportedly considered killing "Gulag Archipelago" author Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn in the early 1970s in such a staged accident.
Oswaldo Paya, whatever the nature of your death, RIP!
