Werent there one (or two) of these topics just a week or two ago?

None of them are. Sure there might be a few..a rare few. But virtually none. If your trying to connect with a girl who loves comics I can understand why your trying here of all places online. But do you have any idea who's on the other side? Could be a guy..or anything but that hot 20 something comic geek girl you want (LOL).

There is only one woman on here who I'm 99% sure is a woman. And that's only because she posts pics of herself doing cosplay for all to see. And even she could be lying for all I know! But that's more proof than the rest of those that claim to be. What amuses me is the fact that some change their gender habitually with their user settings. Really I can understand changing genders for characterization (RPGing), but why you'd do it when representing yourself is beyond me.

I don't even state my gender, as I keep a low profile. But needless to say, I'm of the majority with my gender.

@v_scarlotte_rose: Girls..or women, whatever.

I suppose to avoid all the attention that comes with being a woman, I can understand that.

But then again..no one forces you to reveal your gender, so I don't get that either. You can just go blank like I did.

#17 Edited by V_Scarlotte_Rose (6521 posts) - - Show Bio

@lorbo: I'd usually say woman, not sure why I went with girl this time.

When threads like this seem to come up now and again, it seems that the sexes may potentially be treated differently.

Maybe it's just that people are used to picking one when filling out forms and things, so clicked what they are out of habit.

As it should be, like Storm I'm a goddess.

I know quite a few gamer girls (one who is a member of this site) who usually say they are guys because they have been treated differently if they let people know they are female.

Also know -alot- of guys who have done the opposite. :p

@russellmania77:

You know I could give some names of some really nice people on the site who are female, but I won't. First off, there are already threads like this. Second off, does it really make a difference? I can understand if you were making a thread which directly pertains to females more than males, such as is so and so (lets use Maggie Thatcher as an example) a role model to women, and then call out female viners, but just as a straight call out? Why not Guys, why not people who like Glee, why not people who have ginger hair?

I don't want to assume your just trying to build something with females users on Comicvine. For I know, you could be asexual or gay. But here, I like to think that we can have interesting and enlightening conversations without people knowing whether or not we have boobs.

Oh BTW, I'm an anthropomorphic table. And I'm campaigning for human rights to be given to all furniture who show human emotion, insight and intelligence.

More than I could think...

#22 Edited by lorbo (1541 posts) - - Show Bio

Honestly, I think the females are either into fanfic or rpging. Not so much the battle threads.

In general women care more about character than battle stats. So where you visit on the vine makes all the difference in who you talk to.

It's actually pretty obvious spotting males on the site, I will say that, even if they are posing as females.

Does that happen much on here, people looking for partners?

@laflux: Oh, O.K. I thought maybe you'd mentioned it because you'd seen it before.

I wonder if it does happen, but the people that do are really subtle about it.

#26 Posted by russellmania77 (15758 posts) - - Show Bio

@laflux: wow bro, you didnt have to write me a whole speech, its just a thread. chillax it's ok.

as for women on here, dont worry your not gonna look out at your window n see me doing this

@innersuperman: eventually they all get horny so that would be the answer.

I really don't care. It is the persons points, arguments and knowlegde I care for. Not if it is a female or male. If I want to fantasises about female comic book readers I can do so without the help of the vine.

AMEN BROTHER AMEN!!! LORDY! THIS MAN SPEAKS THE TRUTH. EVERYBODY PUT YOUR HANDS IN THE AIR. I TRIED MAKING A POPULAR THREAD, AND I DID... but it only caught people's attention for how stupid it was to post a thread like this, I SEE THE ERROR OF MY WAYS, WATCH WHAT YOU SAY OR PEOPLE MIGHT TAKE IT THE WRONG WAY.

I APOLOGIZE TO EVERYBODY ON THE VINE, IF I KNEW HOW TO DELETE THIS THAN I WOULD, ANYWAYS EVERYBODY HAVE A GOOD DAY ;) <---- THAT WINK IS FOR EVERYBODY

There are some of us in the RPG section. Um... I am not sure why people are giving the creator of this thread so much heat for such a simple question. Why would anyone feel they have to lie about their gender? That just seems stupid to me. I mean I know people whom have done so, but that was mostly out of wanting to see if people treated them differently. Its sad if this is honestly the case. I am a female btw. And I know of a couple more. True they may be lying, and I can't really prove that I am a woman either... But I am, and you can take my word for it, or don't. I honestly don't give a sh*t.
